I've always been very strongly drawn in, every time I hear this type of music! It has such an indescribable haunting. It literally pulls on my soul to try and reach back in my mind to imagine what life was like at that distant time in the past. Yet their music survives so complete, so colorful, so descriptive. They literally immortalized themselves via this music. This is likely the closest thing we humans have to immortality.

@zanegoodeker135 All music comes down to the scales and chords involved. Tonality has 2 components 1 being modal (basicaly the overal "vibe" of a scale) and the other being between chords not derived from a specific mode. A lot of historical traditional music can be sorted out by scales and the chords. It isn't until the classical period that you find more complicated music that stops fitting into a scale easily. Most music is a scale and only certain composers really create music that is not Diatonic and modal.

As we are now in a rapid period of decline in the West (the Occident), it is worth contimplating the visual and musical beauty of the late Medieval period when the West was ascending to brilliant heights. It is worth noting that their's was a deeply religious era. As such, they believed in the great Transcendentals of Truth, Goodness and Beauty. Our era, it goes without saying, does not believe in such things. We might say we scoff at such antiquated notions. Hence, our artistic endeavors are grotesquely ugly and even revolting. One redeeming thing about our time is that we can listen to their music and look upon their faces through this medium. This, perhaps, is like the Lilliputians staring at Gulliver.
