Thanks, Rachel! Try to limit your living expenses to less than 50% of your income. This includes housing, utilities, transportation costs, and groceries. The remaining income should go towards your savings. Your budget is your roadmap to reach your destination.

I plan to go through my storage shed and give away a bunch of unused things so that others that are out of work can possibly sell it for a little money. Also saving a little more money so that i can hire less fortunate people this summer to help me with things that i need repaired and built around the house.

Other Moms that got in my car always wondered how my car was clean with four kids. Every time we got out of the car- even if I was by myself - every person in the car would take as much in as they could carry. Car stays cleaned out!

It was great timing for that couple to try to get out of debt with so many people losing their jobs right now.

I have a question. I have been working on paying off my debt, but still have a long ways to go. I am currently living at my dad's house but paying $500/month for rent. I am incredibly unhappy here, and need my own space. If I move out, it'll be about $1400/month for rent because of added on utilities and internet and stuff that I currently do not have to pay. Obviously, the longer I stay at my dad's house, the faster I can pay off my debt. But- I cannot stay here for the entire duration(I'd have to stay a full year), because I feel it is necessary to live on my own now. My question is this- at what point in the baby steps would it be okay to move out? I know the better financial option is to stay, but I'm looking for the second best option.

Is finding a room to rent around $500 not available in your area? Hope it all works out for you

@@smallriceeater I need my own space. Moving in with someone else doesn't make sense. To live alone it costs $1400.

$500 seems like a lot to rent from your dad, I am sure you can find an apartment with 2 roommates, maybe $500 each. Or maybe you livr n an expensive area? If your dad is toxic I wouldn't stay there just to pay off debt.

So it said $1,200 is pending in my checking account. I'm going to stimulate the economy by putting that $1200 in my savings and act like it never happened.

Technically speaking, by putting it into your savings account it helps to bolster the banks ability to lend which in turn does help the economy. So, awesome job then!
