I love that Robert Tonner has a collection of Ideal Kissy dolls! My very cool older cousin gave me her Kissy Doll last year and I cried when I saw her nestled in the tissue paper. I loved Kissy since I was five years old. Whenever I am feeling low, I turn to Kissy and squeeze her arms and everything is alright. Thumbs up Robert Tonner!

Sydney Chase has always been my favorite doll, I thought she had the most beautiful face. I agree that the 16 inch dolls are preferable, Barbie size is so small to work with and fit correctly. Details are easier to achieve. Doll collecting - it's a kind of madness - you should see my collection in all sizes also. I had such a series when I was a kid, and started to collect them again when my granddaughter was born and never stopped - she is now 18 years old. I get it, (really should stop). Tonner dolls were the absolute best. The end of the Tonner Doll company has left such a hole in the doll world - we miss you. Thank you for all the ones we got through the years. And thank you for this tour in the treasure room. Are we ever going to see new Tonner dolls? I sure hope so.

I enjoyed this so much ! Robert seems like such a down to earth guy. My favorite doll when I was young was an Effanbee Doll called "Gumdrop" she had a blue dress, and platinum blonde hair. I gave her to a family that couldn't afford dolls. I spent years looking for another one,I finally found her on e bay ! I was so thrilled. Love seeing the dolls that I cherished as a kid. I own Kissy,Chatty Cathy,Twiggy,Shirley Temple, and repros. of Patti PlayPal. I love dolls !

Roberts doll designs and sculpting have made so many generations of little girls so happy! He designed one of my favorites. I own a Magic attic club doll named “Megan” I got for Christmas in 1996 when I was 9 years old. I love my Megan so much that I still have her till this day. She has always been the most beautiful doll I own. I have dolls that are adorable and cute….but my Megan is gorgeous! She looks like a Porcelain doll but she’s made of fine vinyl. I love how Robert designed Megan with the most gorgeous strawberry blonde/red hair and green eyes. you don’t see many dolls with those stunning colors. Megan is one of my prized childhood favorites. She has made me so happy & I hope Robert sees how his work is cherished.

I think you are doing a great job introducing Robert Tonner and seeing some of his collection of dolls. He is a terrific maker of dolls himself. I have seen some of his dolls in person and they are fabulous. I hope he starts making them again, you are doing a great job of bringing dolls to life all kinds of dolls and the antique ones and are incredibly lucky to have had a mother who loved dolls and had her own business and handed down to you and your family and you have the same kind of love for dolls as your mother had. I believe your baby Holland Diane will have the same love for dolls as you and her grandmother did. Please keep up the wonderful work you do introducing everyone to all the different types of dolls that you have. It would be very interesting to see Robert Tonners collection of dolls like he had in this video and also dolls he has made so more people will get to know him, his dollmaking, you could also have other dollmakers on too! Thank you for all you do and I know with a baby it isn't too easy but I do think she enjoys seeing what you do.

What a treat. Thank you Mr. Tonner for sharing your personal stash. As a child, I did not really care for dolls. i''m guessing the reason many toys stayed pristine in boxes more than most other items is because it's a relatively small window of childhood when kids actually dress/brush/play with toys.. grandparents/godparents/aunts/uncles/etc, might live across country and are still remembering the 6, 7, or 8yo they saw the last time they visited, so keep sending toys when the kids are 10, 11, and 12 and outgrowing the "play" phase of childhood.. either that, or like you say, a nicer/upscale doll is gifted and then mom emphasizes that it's a "fancy" collector/display doll that should NOT be undressed/brushed/handled under ANY circumstances, so it gets immediately boxed/put away at the top of a closet until the kid gets older (and then gets forgotten about), or else gets displayed on a tall dresser, or a high shelf for display ONLY.. most little kids are pretty smart, there were hundreds of things we all grew up intuitively understanding weren't to be played with, or even so much as touched: dad's tools, mom's good china, grandma's lead crystal, great-grandma's sterling silver, etc.. . the expensive china doll from aunt mary would most likely have been in that same category in most families..

Robert Tonner - I have remembered this video with you producing 'LIZ' from your shelf and loved her and your thoughts about her. I did purchase a Liz on ebay, but in the red & white dress that doesn't have the appeal of the light blue lingerie. I just now have found the Liz in the blue and am awaiting arrival for $75. I hope I can iron out the satin ribbons on the cover-up to have a perfect doll. I do think I love Liz as you have her here and Robert Tonner, I couldn't have done it without you!

I had moved to LA to work in film and years later wanted a doll that represented Hollywood in my collection. I was a broke film student and saw a Gene but couldn't afford her at the time. My best friend had a ton of dolls !! She and her mom took them and boxed them up when she turned 17 . They stored them in the attic she got married and had a girl ! She then decided to go into the attic to get the dolls down found they had been destroyed by animals . Oh how devastating it was !! Vintage Barbie , baby Chrissy , The Dawn dolls, Sonny n Cher , Dorothy Hamill , the happy (Sunshine)Family , the list of dolls from the 60s to the 70s was endless .
