I just got back vs I've just got back in American English: One can use the past simple instead of the present perfect simple as used by Canadians or Brits. It is common to hear American say: I never saw him before instead of I've never seen him before. which is the preferred use in Canadian English. The adjective just indicates the need to use the present perfect. Your presentation is as always excellent.

Great lesson ! I usually respond: not much 😅. But now I have more tools for my response! Teacher I have a question 🙋♂️ if you don’t mind: whe you asked: Did you do any sightseeing? What’s the meaning of “sightseeing “? 😅

Sightseeing refers to seeing different attractions in a place, such as museums, monuments, or other famous sites.

Hi Rachel I have an unusual question about pronunciation. The word "alleged" is pronounced on dictionaries and on many videos I've checked on Youglish as /ə'ledʒd/. However, in "Young Sheldon" season 7 episode 3 timestamp from 16:33 to 16:43, two different characters prounuced it as /əˈledʒəd/ (with an additional schwa sound [or at least in a different way than dictionaries do]) So which one is correct and also, does that mean we can't count on movies and TV series when it comes to pronunciation? Many thanks, Rachel ♥️❤️❤️
@rachelsenglish20 күн бұрын
The dictionary version is the more common version. I think the version in the show may be a more old-fashioned version that is still accepted as correct.

Hello Rachel How are you! I have a question,please Which Vowel sound do you use when pronouncing words like "lure" and "poor" ? Thank you in advance !
@rachelsenglish20 күн бұрын
For "lure", I'd use UR, and for "poor" I'd use OR. Some Americans would use OR for both.
