Rachel, I have a question regarding phonetics: are there any assimilations between a final /s/ sound and an intial /ð/ or /θ/ sound? For example in sentences such as: "What'S THe matter?" or "That'S THe thing"

Yes, sometimes people do drop the TH and link the S sound to the next word in these situations, but usually that only happens when someone is speaking very quickly.

With haircuts, it's common for stylists to ask clients to "look down" (lower the chin to the chest) so they can see if the ends of the hair are even in the back. I'm not an expert stylist, so I need to check this often!

Great question @Andrew-kp8eg! I have learned German and Spanish at separate times in my life and have lived in countries where those languages were spoken - so I definitely know the challenges of being in another place where the language spoken is not my native tongue. I find learning a language without connecting to the culture can make it very hard! If you can find a reason to get interested in and excited by the language - the learning is much more enjoyable (and will happen faster)!

How the barber cuts the hair is that he combs out the hair then he picks a lock, traps it between his two fingers he cuts the part of the hair that sticks out his fingers, one inch for example, then he picks about a half of the hair he just cut and sticks it between his fingers along with another long lock, he is using the already cut part as a measurement for the long lock and cut the later at the same length, and repeats the operation on and on.If you understand what I mean, can you, Rachel or anyone else, rewrite this paragraph as a native speaker would write it, because it looks to me like a very basic English and thank you.
