As a teacher myself, I would say that this pencil sharpener would be great IF IT PLUGGED IN TO A WALL *and had directions written on it that the pencil doesn’t have to be held into the device. My students and I have broken even the most INDUSTRIAL of electric sharpeners (way more expensive than $45), so it would have to be STURDY and not lose its charge every other day to be of any real use in a classroom. This is demonstrably a fun home sharpener, but not for school I don’t think.

It's better to highlight over a pen than over a pencil. Less smudge. And it'll give you a better idea if it's really ereasable or not. For the magnet fidget pen, I love to have mine in my job meetings. I use it as a pen, but I also put one of the metallic balls on the top of it and spin it! It helps to keep me awake ;) Also, I like to keep some of the tubes on the ink section, but turning the polarity of one. It « floats » and if you push it down, it « catapult » it! (But do not try it on the serious meetings of the management!)

For Luke, You should just get him a light box! They work great and are super easy as long as you could print out the photo that he wants to draw. You could also copy the photos that he wants to draw from book probably. But Tracing paper can be kind of annoying because you have to draw it twice and sometimes it's hard to see what you are drawing, so my suggestions would be either 1) a light box or 2) a small projector and a place on the wall that he can project images on and pin his piece of paper and draw over the image that way.

Big tip for tracing easily from an artist! Print out the image you want to trace. On the back (non-picture side), color the entire page in with pencil. Make sure to cover the entire image's area so you don't miss any spots. Once the backside is colored in, flip it over and place it against whatever paper/canvas you are sketching on. Be very careful not to move it once it is placed down; tape it down if you need to. Then take a pen/pencil and follow the printed lines, tracing them as if you were drawing it yourself. Push down hard enough to dent slightly, but not so hard that you rip holes in the paper. Once you are finished tracing the lines, pick up the print carefully - straight up from the canvas. The pencil on the back of the page should have left a faint outline of your print! This is how I trace without tracing paper!

From a teacher's perspective, some of these would be very nice. That pencil sharpener is quite nice, just get some velcro on the bottom and attach it to a table/desk and it would be good. That fidget pen is too intense for a classroom setting, unless it is only brought out during free time or when all work is finished. All I can picture is all the little pieces falling on the floor and getting lost. Frixion is the superior brand for the erasing highlighters. I also recommend the pens to those that really prefer using them, they erase very well and I use them often myself in the classroom. I do love those fun pens though, they would be great gifts and rewards. Not overly disruptive but still fun. I do think the lunchbox cards are extra, but still adorable for those that want to add something extra. I don't see a problem with the clip art looking ones but everyone is different on their preferences. I do want to add though, that more often than not they end up on the floor of the lunchroom. I have a fellow teacher who has one of the acrylic light up boards in her room and it is so fun! She tasks one student a week to write the welcome note or reminder on them for the day and it is a job the kids love. There are much more simplistic tracing items out there than the one shown here, it looked too finicky to get any real use out of. As a parent, I have been looking at those devices that hang on our wall for chores and scheduling but the price alone keeps me away. It was nice seeing real feedback after some use prior to purchasing. I wonder if pictures can be added? That would help for children that cannot read, though I am assuming that it does not allow that yet.

Yep, not a typo! It was an all metal, heavy duty sharpener. A few years later the price dropped to around $160/170. Now granted, it lasted me 15 years (the second one was for my other room as I was traveling between 2 buildings). Unfortunately, to the heartache of many teachers, they stopped making it. Soooo, $45 for a pencil sharpener is cheap, from the perspective of a teacher.

Erasable highlighters are definitely too dark. Also, once you erase, you can’t re-highlight over that same spot even with a different color or brand of highlighter. The Fixon erasable pens are some of my favorite pens ever. Where were they when 3 decades ago when I was in school? They erase perfectly every time, and you can write over the erased spots many times. Highly recommend those. I’m 43 y/o and use them (G-2 gel pens are my favorite tho). My 18 y/o daughter uses them in college, and my 13 y/o son uses them in middle school. Have heard that leaving papers in a hot car can cause them to erase. However, we live in south Florida and have never experienced that, and both kids have left their book bags in the car constantly out in the sun in 90+ degree temps.
