Your single speed racing last year and watching Hardtail Party got me into single speeding a year ago and I absolutely love it. I did my first gravel race a couple weeks ago and did it on my SS MTB. It was a blast! 3 hours for 32 miles. Glad to see you back on the SS! Syd when you talked about not finding that race fire, I knew exactly what you were saying. That’s a tough spot to be in but finding the enjoyment in the ride is really all you can do sometimes. You guys post what really happens. Genuine victory and genuine struggle. I know us commenters don’t really know you but we certainly appreciate your realness.

Hey Macky could you maby try to eyplain how the extra 20 mill of suspension changes the feeling, handiling and geometry of the bike?
@sydandmacky2 жыл бұрын
I just notice that a bit more suspension (and the fact that the 120mm fork is a Float 34 vs a 32, so a bit bigger diameter stanchions) takes a bit more of an edge off the rough stuff and therefore keeps me from fatiguing as quickly. It obviously slackens the head tube angle a bit as well, but that's pretty imperceptible.

Depends on the setup. You don't need a tensioner on a HARDTAIL if you have sliding dropouts or use an eccentric bottom bracket (which is what I use). If you're curious, Syd goes through the full build (including the eccentric BB) in this video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6LWk4R6ltmleck

I generally run a 30x20t (including at this race) so slightly lighter than the 30x19 you mentioned. I do get spun out, but it allows me to climb pretty much everything.
