Hey Sam! Thanks for this video. Im looking to build my first FPV kit and keep coming back to the X220 kit. I like the thought of being able to run 5 or 6" props. Do you feel the X220 is a good kit as a first FPV quadcopter? Do you know of any other kits that would be better or would it be any better to piece together my own kit? Any help is appreciated! You got a new subscriber too!

Love the vid Sam, the one above the clouds was cool as you were falling upside down. I would love to get into FPV quad but it is not cheap to get started. Being a college student you got to make every dollar count! I think I will stick with my foamy scratch builds for a longer. I have had the same parts for years!

at 3:50 you got your drone stuck in a tree and had a boom truck help you get it out. How did you get the boom truck to help you? do you know someone/ rent it? i feel like renting one of those for an hour might cost more than the drone. Also love the vids keep it up man!

Great session Samm! I need help... I wanted to get the 220 kit for my first build but it does not have a build video for it. Would I just be able to use the build video for the 210, or would that be to confusing?

Nice video Samm . I just ordered a GB X-220 kit . Does the flight fc have a place for a Spektrum satellite receiver or a Spektrum PWM receiver?
@SammSheperd8 жыл бұрын
I haven't used a satellite receiver before. But I'm sure there are instructions on how to do it. It's an SP Racing F3 flight controller
@ramonrp99047 жыл бұрын
Hey Samm, congrats for your videos, they are quite inspiring. I have just some doubts concerning the PDB maximum current, I see that they can handle 20A (with peaks of 30A). By seeing the emax motors specs, with a 4s battery it seems quite easy to go above 20A don't you think? Have you ever had any issues in these regards? Also those ESC are rated 30A, so on paper I would't be so sure if that PDB is a good pick?
@SammSheperd7 жыл бұрын
Everything is well within limits, no need to worry. These things are way more beefy than old school airplane components. Lots of hardcore racers use 20a ESC's with these motors and 5s batteries.

Do you have a video on how to flash the board SP Racing F3 Acro on Beta Flight or how to do it? I never done it before. Thanks

In my other build tutorial I do it using cleanflight. In order to use Betaflight, it is exactly the same except using Betaflight Configurator instead of Cleanflight Configurator.

did you use airmode? and how did you get the the roll so tight. i have a drone with almost the same gear and i can not get to flip that tight it's like it "drifts" do you know what i can do? othet than that great videos (would like some more though)
@SammSheperd7 жыл бұрын
Self leveling modes like angle mode and horizon mode can be nice at first but they significantly handicap your abilities. Once you can get used to manual/rate/acro mode then it's like ultimate freedom. So if you don't have any mode selected it is default to manual mode, If you then add airmode, which is a modifier and can be used along with any other mode, then you can have more control with zero throttle. I also turn the rates up a lot to 1300 degrees per second or so. Betaflight has super expo which is nice and I don't have to use any expo or do anything really in my transmitter.
@lukasmonradnass70597 жыл бұрын
okay thanks m8 i'll try that :)

what are the specs on the battery used on the x220 just ordered 1 and new to the hobby help would be appreciated.

Hi, what LiPos are you using with these quads? I've just bought the X210 kit. Thanks.
@SammSheperd8 жыл бұрын
I only use 1300mah 4s batteries, 3s is okay too I don't think you should be afraid of 4s. Also up to 1850mah is fine but I'm still a 1300mah 4s guy.
@grim-upnorth8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the reply Samm, I've just ordered some 4S 1400mah 65C Racer Series Multistar LiPos from Hobbyking, do you think the components can handle 4S with DAL 5045 Triblades?
@SammSheperd8 жыл бұрын
Yea they can no problem. If they were 2600kv motors then I might go with 5040's but the 5045's with these 2300kv's are perfect Also those batteries sound great
@grim-upnorth8 жыл бұрын
Thanks for confirming my setup thoughts... you've clearly more experience and skill than me :) Oh, and BTW, those LiPos I've just bought have a built in LED to show charge status at a glance, and they were only $19 a piece. hobbyking.com/en_us/multistar-1400mah-4s-65c-with-led-indicator.html

thank you and do you know if the GB x220 is better than the eachine wizard x220 ? thanks!
@SammSheperd7 жыл бұрын
I haven't tried the wizard. They look basically the same. The wizard has the advantage of being pre-built. Many pilots enjoy building almost as much as flying and it's a great learning experience. But it depends on what you want.

can i fit a runcam hd2 on the 210 kit?

It's not meant for the long style of camera. you could do what Bruce from rcmodelreviews does and put a block of foam there and strap the cam to it.

Dos the 25mw transmitter get good range.
@SammSheperd8 жыл бұрын
not really. 25mw in theory has 80% the range as 200mw, but idk. 25mw is used when flying with a lot of other people around a racing course. Replacing one component isn't hard either if you wanted to try a different one.

i recently ordered the eachine x220 wizard but it's on preorder from the site i got it from and it's taking pretty long starting to think i just need to build one would you recommend this over a rtf wizard?
@SammSheperd8 жыл бұрын
I always think building is good because it's a fun learning experience and that way you know how it was put together and how to fix it. I do think these are pretty good kits if you like either one. There are so many options it's really a matter of personal preference. They're so customizable! I must warn you though that GearBest shipping isn't the quickest.
@brokendata70088 жыл бұрын
is it honest? the website says it would ship between the 11th and 13th

Have a social media presence and a proof that you can and will produce a video with any sort of quality to it. I've seen some pretty small channels with pretty lame videos which I can tell were sent for free based on the URL. Make some videos to show what you can do and grow your channel a bit. I can give you some contacts if you PM me.
