Yesterday I was about to go for a nice and easy long run. My plan was to run about 12k in 4:50 min/km pace. At 5 or 6 km I realised that I'm running 4:30 kilometers and I'm not tired at all. It was the best feeling of all time. I ran and ran and felt like nothing can stop me. I ended up running a half marathon distance in 1 hour and 36 minutes which is faster than my previous best. I'm very motivated now! 😄

Feeling great and progressing so well after my achilles injury thanks to your vlog. Not meeting your time can be humbling (although 1h6m half is pretty awesome!) but I know you will turn this into a springboard for your future success; testing your patience, determination and resilience is what life is all about and transferable not only to running but all aspects of life. Good morning Seth!! I had a debut race this weekend. Back story I weighed 250lbs at the beginning of the year. Told myself it was time for a change. I went big for a local 50k. I had run in the past but let everything go. Including myself. When I started running again I was constantly looking for shoes a big guy could survive in. Your videos were always so helpful. Anyway, I did finish my 50k and finished in 5:06! All I had cared about what coming in under 6 hours. Just survive. But 5:06!!! From a guy who still weighs 200 lbs and isn't over 6 feet tall I was excited. And the best part I learned today is I came in 4th overall! What i really wanted to say was thank you for the shoe videos and all of the others. It was an amazing journey and I think I will keep it going! Run on Seth! Ben

I just completed my first marathon 19th October and my goal was sub4.13 I did half 2.05:42 and second half 2.06:52 getting to 4.12:34. Pretty easy sea-level route as 160m total elevation gain and sandy and slightly muddy road for 15,2km and asphalt platform for 27km. After ten years I'll be 50 years old and hopefully a lot faster than now :-)

On the plus side, it's still a great time for what happened. Many many marathoners wish they had a debut time like that one. You have for sure the fitness to qualify for the trials, you just went at it fearlessly and a road marathon kicks your butt if you try to go at it too fast. Still, you gave it your all even when you couldn't, you're awesome and inspiring and I'll keep cheering as long as you keep giving it your best!

6:24-6:54 Oh man. I'm sitting here at work, Monday morning, crying. For Seth's fans and community to go out on course and record, and to shout "Rhythm, Rhythm, Rhythm Seth, Rhythm!" (One of his 5 focus points for the race.) And for Seth to be aware enough to give a thumb's up. Wow. This is so beautiful. The entire race montage from 5:00 to 7:51 and the backing song, perfect. I've only been on this channel about a month, but have been following along every day since. 2:23 for your first ever marathon? Fantastic job, Seth. You actually were very solid in this race, all the way, no matter what you say happened the last few miles. Maybe the Olympic trials aren't in your future. Maybe they are. Maybe you try a couple more marathons and find your rhythm for 26.2, but go back to kicking butt in the ultramarathon world, which frankly, seems to be what you gravitated towards for 5 years. The best of luck to you and everyone! Much love.

I suppose its comforting to know that someone as talented as you seth, can get it wrong and go out too fast, if you don't mind me saying it, maybe in the excitement of it all like lots of us regular runners but still a fantastic time

Outstanding video Seth, you can just feel by watching this the excitement and elation of all those runners and people along this epic course.

That’s awesome Seth, I was cheering for you from home, and it’s a bummer you missed the goal time. Wow that was an incredible time for a half. Well done brother, well done!

Seth - I didn't cheat and just learned your finish time while watching the vlog. First congrats on finishing your first road marathon. Similar to you, I fell short of my Detroit Marathon goal of 2:59 this past Sunday. I was on pace until mile 22, but couldn't push myself through the last 4.2 miles. Oh well, we live to run another day!

Great job Seth. We go again. Safe trip back to Colorado. I did my long run 21 kms on Sunday, got back in time to watch Amsterdam marathon.

Note of appreciation for your work, as I prepare for my own race coming up. I'm so sorry that Amsterdam didn't work out the way you hoped! Thanks for sharing the journey.

I could watch this all day long. The preparation before the race, the mood, music, race shots .. that guy at 6:45 cheering for Seth !! Kudos to you, sir. QD: I raced my second marathon on Saturday. 3:02:08, didn't make the goal by 2 minutes .. but honestly, I was maybe sadder watching the marathon app on the train back home the next day :D

Seth, really solid first marathon! 100% agree with others (and your own post race evaluation) regarding improved pacing next time around. You definitely have the ability to hit the standard. All the best with your recovery and next build up.
