Racing the LETIN MANGO $4K EV car - 100kph limit? // CHINA DRIVER

We finally get the LETIN MANGO on the circuit, but can we reach more than 100kph is this little electric beast...well, lets find out!

Of all the small, cheap EVs currently on the Chinese market, the Mengo (in its standard trim!) is the one I like the most. To me, it looks very much like my Suzuki Celerio so small, but not TOO small (ie big enough room for a couple of kids plus shopping). I think the first Chinese player to offer one of these cost-effective EVs in the UK is, I predict, going to make an absolute killing. Not everyone wants to shell out £50k on a bloody Tesla!

The main obstacle to the importation of these cars is E-NCAP. It is the same reason why you don't see Kei cars in Europe/UK although they will be perfect for most cities. There is also pressure from other carmakers (European/American) not to let them in. The current Cold War 2.0, the import tariffs, 'anti-dumping' regulations, dealer network is also going to drive up prices for sure.

I drove the mengo 300 and it goes up to 120 km/h it does have a more powerful motor though... and 300 km autonomy

New mengo to be delivered in June and the mengo pro (new model with cloud updates) will have a 37 kw motor and 335 km autonomy is rated for 108 km/h but I know they go a little bit more than that hehe
