At first I didn’t really like this video’s format, just wasn’t used to it. But then it grew on me. Would normally rather see you traveling together or solo. But not separately like this. Then came the fun when there were some unforeseen obstacles. It reminded me of The Amazing Race. Also shows how you can get around Japan in different ways, which is one of the reasons I like traveling there. Though I wouldn’t hitchhike. And Kyde scared me a bit when recounting how she got her ride from two guys in a car with a bunch of stuff in it. I don’t care how nice the look on a guy’s face is, but back in the States a single gal shouldn’t hitch a ride from them. So nice to be able to let your guard down and not need to worry about personal safety almost constantly. Thanks for another fun video!

Should do a part 2 where both hitchhike separately trying beat each other to a final destination. Or something similar to this video. Lots of fun to watch

she'd get rides dramatically faster than I would. people pick up women instantly because they are less threatening looking, among other reasons. haha

51:17 A Sago Palm or Cycad. It's probably the kind that is found natively in Japan, Cycas revoluta. It's a living fossil, there were cycad forests when the dinosaurs were around. They're gymnosperms so have more in common with pine trees than with other plants.

Scooty is so cute! I love motorcycles. This felt almost like riding one, so thank you! That cutoff of the Google map was giving me, "Here be dragons", vibes. Kyde's so competitive. She gets that wild gleam in her eyes. It's like a different world there. I cannot imagine hitchhiking in Chicago. Yay, my fave couple reunited again!

Biker here. Eric you could have made considerably better time if you filtered (US lane split) more. Also rode a bit faster on the open road. Suzuki Burgman 400 is an excellent maxi scooter, good choice. Gonna be epic videos when you can take Kyde along.
@kydeanderic Жыл бұрын
yea, I had bags on the side that are wider than my mirrors by a touch, so I'm not super into being dangerous with the lane splitting. And I'm also not really into speeding hahaha. What ate up time for me was filming, some stops I probably didn't need to make, and that weird traffic leaving the Fuji area that forced a detour. Without that traffic it would have been much closer, it swallowed 40 minutes or so. -E
@dayla8634 Жыл бұрын
@@kydeanderic Was it confirmed that lane splitting is legal here? I asked my driving school instructor, he said not to do it. I've also asked one of my students from shiakusho who rides. He said he wasn't sure either after looking it up. I only filter, but most people I see riding on my side of the island do not do either.

@kydeanderic yep and fuel injection delivers more power. Mine was the old carburettor version AN400X if I recall correctly. Its quite addictive... I ended up with an ST1100 Pan European in the end . Burgman was the most powerful scooter you could legally have once I got the UK licence A2 rating. Which is auto gears. Eventually I retook the test and got my A1 rating. 20 years after getting my car licence. I think it was a mid life kind of thing. Anyway that Burgman looks great. I know Japan gets hot but you ought to wear some more protection. I had some kevlar lined jeans (Draggin jeans) and a mesh jacket (US make Joe Rocket) with shoulder / elbow pads for summer. Usual leather for winter. Anyway enjoyed the video.

The only thing I will say about lane sharing (that's how will call it in California) is if you go way wide to the left random crap tends to end up out there including potentially sharp objects like nail, bolts, etc which can cause a flat tire.
