Ibram X. Kendi, one of the leading CR Theorists, says this on page 11 of his book, Stamped from the Beginning: "We have a hard time recognizing that racial discrimination is the sole cause of racial disparities in this country and in the world at large." Sole cause? My one point in this entire podcast was not to deny discrimination (which I said several times), but to point out that several causes exist for disparities and that discovering the contribution of each of those causes is very difficult, if not impossible, to do. So simply citing disparities or correlations does not prove what CR theorists say they do. We need to fight racism, but we need to accurately identify where it is, and what policies contribute to it, in order to do so.

Hey Bro Frank. I've been watching you for a few years and appreciate all you do to represent God's word to the fullest. There are many thing you've said in this podcast that are great but I feel you are missing the heart of the matter on both topics but I will only refer to the portion on racism. You are correct that racism is not the only cause to the financial gap between blacks and whites, but it is a root of most, if not all, issues that have hurt the black community. Racism started slavery. Slavery caused the father to be pulled out of the home to raise his children. When slavery was over blacks were given freedom with no education or job Blacks had to go and work for their masters to be paid as little as they can Jim Crow laws fed into the black person they are not equal to a white person. Whites had superior education, seats on a bus, and clean water. When Jim Crow laws were abolished, in an attempt to help struggling families, the welfare system was created. A helping hand is great, but this one came at the expense of losing the father in the home yet again. They would tell black mothers the government will give you money but you can not be married in order to get this money. This is later on followed by drugs being put into black communities by our government. (Not all conspiracy theories are wrong) Then we have the blacks being put into jail at an alarming rate for minor offenses. If they had more money they would make bail, but because they don't they have to stay in jail. Then we come to today. Blacks emotionally have had enough and are tired of being equal on paper but treated as second class citizens. Its important right wing Christians see not only all sides to the problem, but to see the root and give THAT the most important priority when looking at the disparity. I love your ministry. Please partner with black people and look at it from God's perspective and our point of view.

Thanks James! Certainly some people personally engage in racist behaviors (and many other sins). But from a policy perspective, what policies, in your opinion, should we be trying to change to help fix the racism problem in the US?
@semaj1077
@semaj1077 3 жыл бұрын
@@FrankTurekVideo Thank you for responding. It means a lot and shows you're always willing to hear what others have to say. In regards to policy there are a few things that can be changed. For example, It is more difficult for a black person to get a business or home loan despite having the same credit score as a white person. There are a few other things as well but I dont think that's the right question we should be asking.I would like to not focus on what policies the government can change but more so what the white evangelical church can do. Black people aren't seen as equals by our white brothers. You would be hard pressed to find a black pastor leading a predominantly white, or even mixed, congregation. I have seen many predominantly black, or mixed, congregations led by white pastors. Music is another area where black Christians have infused white influence into out worship music. Most black churches have songs written by white people, and their style of music, as part of their worship service but I don't see white churches doing the same thing. This really hurts me because in secular society whites have fully embraced black music as a part of their culture. I am more than likely to hear a black artist in a white club than a black singer in a white church. This is not what Jesus died for. I believe if the church accepted and participated with each other regardless of color or culture, but rather on theology and conviction we would be the Church (one assembly) that Christ is coming back for. Racism in the church would end once black leadership, music, and culture are seen as equal to our white brothers and sisters. When we fix it in the church we will be better able to tackle the country's problem. Thank you so much for listening. I really do love your work.

@@semaj1077 the reason he asked about policy, and not what you answered with is because policy/law is what dictates action. That should be the focus. Causation does not equal causality. That was the whole point if the podcast. I white church not listening to a certain type of music does not mean that they are racist. It just means that the church has a particular preference for certain worship music over another. Thats all.

@@benjaminshiflett8066 as believers we cant ask the law to do something when Christians dont even see there is an issue. The acceptance of music goes beyond preference. Although I agree with the basic premise that not everything is a result of rasicm, I think this is an over simplified take on this issue. To take the promotion example. He says perhaps someone gets the job because they are better qualified, or more motivated etc...not racism. However the reason another person is not as qualified, or motivated could be due to racism previously experienced. Being passed over for the job may not be racist, but that doesn't mean racism a person has been subject to, put them at a disadvantage and therefore has had an impact on their outcomes.

NOTE: Please be humble when reading this Humbly, I must say that this was poorly timed and poorly written for our current cultural context. I don't think most people who experience legitimate discrimination are saying that every problem is solely based on some form of historical oppression. Most Minority groups in the US have experienced discrimination for 400+ years, so believe me when I say that we know what it looks like. Some discriminatory practices were not condemned by law until the 1960s, and there is still much social unrest. For you to make the statement, "Racism Doesn't Explain Everything," gives an impression that issues related to racism are "resolved" and that it's time for people to "move on". It also nullifies the voices of people who personally experience discrimination because you have minimized the legitimacy of a REAL and ONGOING issue. I'm not here to argue or cause discord, but I am asking you to "weep with those who weep." (Romans 12:15) There are a lot of people who have been and are currently hurt by this broken, corrupted, sinful society, and rather than acknowledging their hurt, you go out of your way to tell them, "Well, maybe it's not racism. Maybe it's your personality or your qualifications or your intelligence." Doesn't sound great, does it? Please, use your platform for justice. Please use your platform for truth. I challenge you with a command God gave to Israel in Isaiah 1:17, "learn to do good; seek justice, correct oppression; bring justice to the fatherless, plead the widow’s cause."

Racism doesn't exist in homogeneous nations. Maybe multiculturalism is the root of our problems. Maybe we're too different in our desires for in-group preferences to co-exist. Maybe there is nothing wrong with that; it's a product of nature and the driver behind the unique cultures and creations that each races contributes to humanity as a whole. Maybe borders and countries exist all around the world since the dawn of humanity for legitimate reasons... Lastly, maybe races other than Europeans contribute just as much if not more racism to the problems facing the US today, but no one wants to admit that.

Dr. Turek, it seems to me like 3/4 of the way into your podcast, when you make the correlation between Asians, White Americans and Black Americans, you discount intergenerational traumas. That sort of makes your case seem a bit trite. The argument black people in America make is rooted in what outcomes past discriminations have caused. Not that racism is the root of everything, but where it is the root that it be fully addressed and redressed. It seems your argument, discounted of generational traumas of discrimination, makes perfect sense. But in the frame work of the way this country was founded how you left that kind of history out of you argument concerns me.

Your comment is clearly meant to attempt to invalidate, based on his lack of taking into account how this nation was founded on the back of the so called "intergenerational traumas" based upon ethnicity and historical accuracy. Perhaps it is you that needs to observe some more comprehensive history? Perhaps you could recognize that the first indentured servant in colonial America that was made a permanent slave, was done under British colonial governance and that it was in fact a situation whereby one black man was granted ownership of another black man, to set the colonial precedent that expanded into southern plantations under British rule. Perhaps you could recognize the Islamic tribes that rounded up the slaves to sell them to the British slave traders for transportation to the colonies? You could even go back and assign some level of blame to them maybe? Is there a valid claim on behalf of African Americans to a percentage of OPEC royalties to make things right? Perhaps you could acknowledge the decades of congressional conflicts, pre-civil war, to block perspective new states from joining the Republic if they wanted to have slavery be legal in their purposed state constitutions? Those conflicts actually date back to the federalist papers. The objections to slavery nearly prevented the "United States" from even happening in the first place. You seem to be seeking to fabricate a moral justification for the behavior of the Burn, Loot, Murder movement in present day America and there simply isn't one. Then you proceed to point to it as some obscure historical oversight on Frank's part, that makes his claims "trite" and therefore invalid and ill prepared because it doesn't observe your personally identified moral dilemma contained in your observation of American history, but your version of events in history is selective. If you don't wish for people to challenge your position, you may want to consider not publishing it to the general public. I'm Just saying. Of course you aren't interested in debating your position. Although he is creating a straw man to attack, even if there is a slight focus on Mr. Jones. This focus is a slight turn towards the right direction for his and others Isagesis understanding of scripture to justice and loving your neighbor, which is a compliment that is stretched considerably. Truth is, no one credible organization that has been fighting American tyrannical law, poverty, and racial injustice for the extended period that we have been addressing these issues, believes racism explains, or is the root of everything. Ex. the civil rights movement becoming a focus in later years for low waged workers aka poor peoples campaign, or the black panthers starting a coalition with latino and white male groups to help lower income communities with health and food care. The argument of this video is a clear strawman that to myself being a follower and student of Mr. Turek is still advancement in the right direction considering his past stands against social justice being biblical etc. Sadly slow but expected from this western partisan situation. Yet my friend Nygaard the evidence is here and has been here even before 1884 berlin. Greed power and other wordly spirits do explain these. When racism is used as a tool within these systems you must address it directly and have a balanced battle because people are dying minute by minute and many without Christ because they don't trust anything that seems to come from the workers of that tool or comforters of it. This is why some believe white evangelicals should come and lead the fight in racial equality in America though others believe their past and present terrible hermeneutics on the subject, political, and corporate alliances have done enough damage.

@@rasheedfraser5680 didn’t you say that if he’s going to talk about the BLM that he should “preferably have a black person with him” - I’m saying he doesn’t even need to do this. Even “preferably” because of his 1st amendment right. You don’t need a representative to help you formulate your thoughts and opinions when you can infer/speculate based off of observations of what the movement is doing or has done.

No, Frank, that book wouldn't be worth my precise time. Why...?? Because it would give validity to arrogance & absurdity. NO, I'm not embraced about the racist teachings of certain white preachers, past or present... why?? Because I'm not the one preaching racism, nor am I part of that racist tribe. Guilt by association would REQUIRE ACTUAL association... I'm not associated with people just because we may or may not share a genetic lineage. To suggest otherwise would be EXACTLY the same prejudicial racist statements as "if you don't know who to vote for, then you ain't black", or "all blacks are the same". How much time did that author spend examining the racist teachings of black preachers, btw...??

No maybe or why...just except it and think positive. People are better than you. Is ok as long you have a job better then people who no job. Still not happy find another job before leave your job. We are here not to work is to serve. I like to share......... For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. John 3:16 Jesus said Love one another as I have love you and love your enemy. Why have racism??? All are sinners come from the same boat what have to do with their skin colour. Stop judging, except it, let it go..... Not worth life is short dont stress over people, job, etc...

So simply citing disparities or correlations does not prove what CR theorists say it does. We need to fight racism, but we need to accurately identify where it is, and what policies contribute to it, in order to do so.

@@FrankTurekVideo Good reply and well written Frank. I would like to address a couple things for you to consider 1. The media is washing “Conspiracy Theorists” as lunatics and fanatics.. Please dont fall for that propaganda as some people correctly discern the activities and history of people in power as evil. They tend to be labeled “Conspiracy Theories” 2. The focus on Black/White “racism” is taking up so much mental real estate in Americans today its unreal. 3. I think anyone with logic knows that racism isnt the cause for all the problems in the world. 4. There are things which have happened that we all dont have knowledge of and only God reveals all truth.. Which he will. the extent of the problems in the world and/or racism is not fully known 5. i do agree that its not the sole cause of all problems and anyone who does believe that lacks fundamental logic/reasoning ability

Frank consistently missing the mark...he's become a joke...no one walks around saying racism explains everything. Only the guilt of white folk would force someone to even argue such a ridiculous claim. Power explains nigh everything and look where alot of power is concentrated. Ever since Anglo-saxons started to categorize themselves and other Europeans into silly groups, they forced people with varying identities to play along. now they wish to say that the people who had the idea of race forced upon them, that they were brainwashed. Now 'white people' are separating themselves by two polar and convoluted political identities and want us to play along again. By the next century y'all will be blaming black people for the madness that conservativism and liberal caused.
