Racism in The Muslim Community and centres - Debate Time with Ali AL-Nawab - S1 E1

Racism within the community and our Islamic centres. With our multiple community centres aimed at specific ethnic groups, such as the Pakistani, Iraqi, Lebanese and Khoja centres to name a few, are we a community segregating too much and is racist ideology at the base of this? With recent movements such as Black Lives Matter, which highlighted racially motivated violence against black people, are the muslim community at fault with similar racist idealogies within the community and centres. In Islam there is no racism, there is equality, however, is this the case in the community and within our Islamic centres?

I wish there was a centre like that of Essex where respected Shaykh Rashid is located in my place. The issue is that we also don't have any Shia reverts. Most local Shia in the West are Indo-Pakistani, Iranian, Afghan, Iraqi and Lebanese. Many of them are first generation migrants and that's why they visit mosques in which the preachers speak in their mother tongues, i.e. Arabic, Urdu and Farsi etc.
