When Chris Henderson died, Chelsea's next match was Newcastle away. I texted a local Geordie Punkette friend to tell her that after the match, the Chelsea lads were having a memorial evening for Chubby Chris at a local venue, and that tribute band Combat AT4 would be playing. She rang me up to confirm, and I thought she was gonna have kittens!! Ha ha!

The "84" is because of George Orwell's 1984 and the "Combat" is because of their paramilitary dress style.

Hadn't heard of Combat 84, of course the first thing that comes to mind is Combat 18 - not certain of the usage of the word Combat there to signify far right sympathies!

Captain Andy I was on the terraces as a nipper back in the day and became involved with Chelsea (Independent Supporters Association). One of the goals was to oppose those groups and the racism seen on the terraces. Ken Bates hated us and used to slate CISA in the programme notes regularly. Its odd how he had that tolerance of the ultra right wing / hooligan element, but was known for his barbaric, populist ideas like electric fences - I used to think. Actually, not odd, its bloody typical of that mindset - grandstanding in public, condoning in private and slating those opposed to the far right. That model continues to this day for too many in the political "centre" or right.

Captain Andy Johnny Ramone is one of the founders of Punk, There wouldn’t be Punk a Movement without The Ramones. If you wanna be a True Punk Rocker you’ve got to be right wing. The Stooges were right wing as well.

@@TheBucklandBull Punk, like all genres and subcultures is socially constructed. There's no definitive requirements for what makes someone a 'true punk'. Punk was so called because it was rock 'n' roll being played by bands in small venues rather than in bigger venues. As such, they were considered to be a bunch of punks rather than proper professionals. That's all. There's no political allegiance required. There isn't even any particularly hard defined musical boundaries. Johnny Ramone has no more business decreeing what makes someone a true punk than I do. Punk isn't his. He doesn't own it. Nobody does. Punk is an artform that has been embraced by a lot of left wing people eg. The Clash, Stiff Little Fingers, Anti-Flag, Bikini Kill etc. etc. but even they don't have any particular business declaring punk to be the property of the left.

Having a Jewish girlfriend doesn't preclude someone from being racist. I'm not sure how you've managed to convince yourself that someone can be a national socialist (a Nazi) and not a racist.
