The Officer was the epitome of how to handle this situation. Her story about being mishandled but a Black cop had no bearing on her behavior because she had already started down the list of her total disrespect and disdain towards him before he identified himself as a Police Officer, plus if she had in fact given his seat to someone else who was obviously a different ethnicity her mind was made up to screw over him because of his skin color. Had she checked both tickets she could have moved one of the passengers to an empty seat in a higher seating class. Instead, she made a choice to abuse her authority based on her own personal views. The airline hired her and is therfore responsible for the vetting process, the airline gave her the power to decide who benefits from her decisions, the airline provided a uniform to symbolize that her decisions represented company policy, and, most importantly, the airline did not provide a system to override her personal bias which allowed her to decide in an unfair way.
