the purity and lack of deffects necessary to become electronic silicon or pcb board element make your fears irrelevant. In fact is the opposite way you think what matter to the electronic industry. 2 square meters of photoelectric silicon to make 500W of electrical power are sold at $150. 300 mm2 of silicon wafer in the INtel 14900KS from $750, in the form of RTX 3060 at $300, in the form of a 100mm2 at much less than $200... don't talk about cobalt or coltan, lithium, rare earths... on a 30cm diameter silicon wafer they can manage to put $100.000 worth of chips or at least $15.000 to $30.000 in lower tier cpu chips.... Silicon comes from almost perfect quartz mineral mined on high purity mines, is not beach sand. Nor what you found in chips neither on LCD displays etc. For the industry making Solar Panels (that the mankind needs to lower life risking pollution) is a waste, any other application is better than Gold mining if your name is Apple.

@@PAcifistiIt wasn't a question of "keeping" those things. The GPU is monolithic and its I/O block only accounts for a 64-bit memory bus and four PCIe lanes. That means that the GPU is constrained to those limits no matter what, and so it will have either 4GB or 8GB of GDDR6 and four PCIe lanes until the end of time. Also, do not forget that when they were brought into production RAM prices were super inflated, so 4GB was a choice made for reasons of cost. According to Techpowerup the 780m is similar to 1650, A380 and 6400. 6500XT is faster but 6600 is so far ahead and has both more RAM and more PCIe lanes. And I think everyone who says the 6400 is worse than 6500XT misses the point: What other modern card is available as single slot, low profile, slot powered? A funny little story about the 6500xt for everyone....... My old comptuer slowly gave out on me... first the video card went and then I was gaming on it with just the cpu, barely able to play a game like world on tanks on the lowest setting with a playable (20-30) fps (10-20 zoomed in for shooting) and playing other games like League of Legends. EU4 and mostly just using my ps4. The power button stopped working, the only way to start it was by pushing down on the mobo and shorting it out (I know terrible but I didn't care anymore) and the mobo was down to 1 sata port etc. So I finally got in a spot in life where I could afford to build a new pc.... so I bought a b550 mobo, a 5600x, a cheap 256gb ssd(for now), used my old 750gb HDD, an upgraded cpu cooler, the scary 750w ARESGAME psu that GamerNexus did a video on about not putting in your pc (It was 50$ lmao) etc etc and I put it all together...... and I decided I would wait to buy a video card after I saved up some money (this is still mid cyrpto mining where every gpu was still 50-100% more expensive) So I put it all together and..... nothing. no image and I'm wondering... well did I screw up something putting it together? It's turning on why is there no bios/windows showing up? Well it turns out that because on my old PC that had an APU I assumed that all computers/CPU's worked without a dedicated graphics card..... I had no Idea that I should have bought a 5600g instead of the 5600x if I wanted the computer to work without a GPU...... so I was super upset and decided that I needed a video card much sooner then I thought.... So I borrowed 300$ from a family member and went out and bought a brand new GPU that just came out that same week.... the 6500xt (4gb ofc) and that sucker got to my house from newegg in like 5 days..... I opened it up and I couldn't believe how small it was but I put it in and.... the computer worked just fine now that it had a GPU inside of it. So I installed some games that I wanted to play like total war and then I Installed Squad... and Squad was running on high at like 30fps and I was so happy and excited because It was such a long time before I could game something like SQUAD on a PC and It was my favorite FPS of all time.... Going from an APU playing WoT at like 10-30 fps the fact I had squad running.... and I would brag to my roommate "Hey look I'm playing squad on high settings!" lmao..... 30-40 fps felt buttery smooth to me after playing nothing on PC for years and years....... Then I started to see the reviews on the card and I couldn't believe how much bad reception it was getting because going from not being able to play a demanding game like Squad to being able to play it for the first time in about 5-6 years was so much fun. Eventually I sold it for like 50$ less then I paid for it and bought myself a 3080 12GB and now I understand why the 6500xt4GB was such a let down of a card for 2022. But for a month or two.... that 6500xt.... that most people wouldn't think twice about.... was the best thing that happened to me for PC gaming in half a decade..... and you would be surprised how going from nothing to "playable" can make somebodies day...... The guy who bought the 6500xt from me was happy to buy it too... He was also getting a GPU just to play the spiderman game that came out on pc in 2022... he asked me if it could play the game and I looked up some reviews and said.... yea it could play it on high. (which it could get around 50 fps on high on that game) So that one card was an entry level GPU for two people in the same year that basically sole purpose was to allow us to go from "no pc and unplayable" to "pc and playable" Probably the best you are going to hear about that card and I would assume most people who bought it would have a similar kind of story? Because nobody is going from a 1080ti or even a 2060 to a 6500xt. Fun fact. The 6500xt is on par with the TItan Black performance wise which came out in 2014..... xD It's also slightly worse then a 1060 3GB........ but for me.... It was glorious!

Also I wouldn't excuse AMD For putting this card out but since AMD is giving me FSR 3.0 and Frame Generation to breathe life into my 3080 and making that card perform and last longer then it should no thanks to NVIDIA deciding the 3000 series "wasn't compatible with DLSS3 and FRame Gen" Yea okay NVidia... anything to push people with money to buying the next product by giving them RT FOMO. Another reason why I bought a 3080 was because it was the only card that I could get for a decent price. I live in Canada and they were pumping a bunch of 308012gb refreshes into best buy who were selling it for 950-999$ CAD and I jumped on the opportunity to buy it when I could because everything else was sold out completely. My next card might just be AMD considering I don't like how greedy Nvidia is and the whole dls33/FG not available to my 3 series while AMD giving me FSR3/FG. If I bought a card today I would buy the 7900xtx

@InternetListener

they make perfect sense. 8:29 just shows how rarely tested are these scenarios. Strange feeling is due to the lack of proper hardware testing, code optimization or perfromance scaling on benchmarketing reviews. When you keep testing the same game on different settings and hardware setups you're not testing the hardware differences but the software. I fyou go and compare 3dmark results you'll see how they scale as "expected" but just because all the internet is flooded by 1080p ultra maximum FPS only tests we are missing thing like the lot of games that are faster in 1440p than in 1080p, the lot that are playable at 4K low/medium/high in cheap gpus, or the strange scaling of perfromance to Power (W) or to processing power (TFlops etc.). Anytime reviewers find games being faster with an RX6700 than any other more powerful gpu, gets obvied, remember INtel Gpu Busy metrics? why they don't use it. It has to do with obvious bottlenecks make visible using RAdeon POrofile and other developer tools... search for official AMD developer site (AMD GPUOpen) software introduction to "Radeon™ GPU Profiler 2.0" or recent article "Occupancy explained"
@InternetListener
@InternetListener Жыл бұрын
in fact what the result suggest is: - that probably that RE4 developers targeted some rx 6600 heavily to run great and expected amd drivers and hardware to handle the very optimized game by itself, - that there is room for huge improvement and perfromance is being lost around on other gpus, 7600 and 4060 must be able to scale the 6600 results accordingly. so everything is running slower than it could if optimized, not the 6600 faster.

The problem is not the link of only 4 PCIe 4.0 (4x) lines but the quantity of VRAM of only 4GB which severely slows down the performance of the "Navi24" chip, Sapphire and XFX had each released an 8GB variant using two GDDR6 chips of 4GB (Samsung) instead of two 2GB GDDR6 chips (Samsung/SKHynix/Micron) but unfortunately too little produced and available, therefore having seen a test of the Sapphire Radeon RX 6500 XT Pulse 8GB against an ASUS Radeon RX 6500 XT DUAL OC 4GB on Doom Eternal in 1080p "Ultra" preset the difference in average FPS was a little more than +60% which clearly proves that it is mainly the too low amount of VRAM of 4GB.

I bought this card for my kid's PC because their previous card didn't have enough VRAM to play Trailmakers. They have 1080p with an Intel 4790K and 16gb of DDR3 Ram. They have played Halo Infinite, Jedi Fallen Order, among other not so old but not so recent games. They never complained about stuttering or slow downs, and I haven't seen it looking over their shoulder occasionally. It made sense at the time because I couldn't even get my hands on a 1650 Super, but the sale price had it down to 200$ Canadian which is comparable to the other cards in the same area of performance. I don't really regret my purchase at all. And no, I couldn't afford to go up one higher and get the 6600, so this worked for me.

I picked one up for $95 open box from Microcenter this week because I was rocking a "RX 560 XT 8GB" before and it was just ...dumping all over everything. Was still a huge upgrade in stability and functionality, but I'm only playing digital CCGs and World of Warcraft so it's fine. Sometimes running WoW in 1440p and alt-tabbing freezes the game for a couple seconds, then it comes back. I still can't switch it over to DirectX 12 mode. Other than that though, not bad for the price at all. Nvidia has no competing product in that price category and I know I won't be playing Alex Jones 2 on this thing

I hope they don't cut the bus widths next gen... It really hurts people on older boards like X370 and X470. There are some compromises to be made on those platforms but otherwise they are still viable.

So it performs similar on the 780M from 7840U/Z1E. Also iirc there's powercolor variant that sells 6500XT for only $110-120 but still I rather get the pre-owned 5500XT or 1660S instead lol.

Black Friday deals for the RX6600 were down to $180 with a code for an additional $20 dollars off. Picked mine up for $160 plus tax. Worked out to be about $181 from Newegg. At that price point, the RX6600 is about where it should be. I’m happy I bought when I did. You never know when the supply of the older cards will dry up. It replaces my 5700XT which is starting to have cooling issues. I could just repaste it but I want something in case it has more issues.

I really struggle to find a suitable use case for this GPU. - low-q gaming? Better get a used GPU from previous generations - office PC? Not a low-power model, has extra fans - SFF PC? Not a low-profile model - secondary GPU for virtualization where primary GPU is to be virtualized? Too big, requires external power, better get a 1030 or RX6400 - GPU for on-the-fly video transcoding or streaming? No HW encoding capabilities - GPU for rackmount platforms? Not a low-profile model, not passive-cooled - GPU for mediacenter? Limited HW decoding, not small, requires external power So IMO it is not a question of "what is the adequate price for 6500?", it is "what is the use for it?". It is an absolutely pointless GPU, it's useless if it costs $50, let alone $150. In many regards RX6400 is better and more useful than this.

I have one of this and bought it back then for ~300$. I need it only as graphics adapter and to use as little as possible pci-e lanes for workstation (mainly software building compilation and sometimes simulations, cpu heavy workloads) with 5950x, which do not have iGPU. It gets the jobs done but I wouldn't recommend it to anybody with different usecase and now for such usecase as mine, 6400 is better.

Is there a fixed proportion of esports titles like CS2 in these comparisons? "Average FPS" is such a weird thing when you have both titles where 60 FPS is a target and those where 200+ is normal, both in the same mix.

has me thinking, how is the "GTX"4050 GA107 going to do, hmmm. I heard rumor that the GA107 was a laptop part, and that gives me lots of doubts over the former 8GB GA106 RTX4050. Some say the reduced PCIe lane count don't matter, and that is quite contradictory to how the "GT"4060 and RX6500XT handles the reduced lane count.

At the time this GPU was the only thing available. and it was one of the reasons the market recovered. looking at it from a "gaming" perspective is another flaw in this review. It's almost like Hardwareunboxed has a vendetta against this card. You must remember at the time even cards that where used as basic display adaptors for businesses where being put in "gaming" computers creating more of a shortage. GT1030s were selling in "gaming computers" at Walmart. 6600xt's were selling for over $500. I bought 4 6500xts for 199 each. this completely destroyed the market for people scalping all the low end 10 and 16 series, making less of a demand and recovering the market for businesses needing display adaptors. This alone helped stabilize the GPU market. The 6500 xt was never supposed to be a long term solution. It was an attempt to get people something to use cheap that would quell the insane demand and allow them to resupply. Saying "just wait" is great advice for the average person, but when a business needs display adaptors, or your child wants to play Minecraft on a PC that has been waiting on a GPU for 6 months and you can spend $199 to satisfy them for a few months, its a good value. I was actually blown away by its performance paired with an 11th gen i3, running games on medium. It played GTAV, Minecraft, Fortnight, Forza, at 1080p medium just fine and was quite capable to fill the gap. The 6500xt did exactly what it was supposed to do, it helped Lower GPU demand allowing the market to recover.

Can you consider adding a weighed average fps chart - where you divide each fps in a chart by the max fps (achieved by the best result). That Results in a value between 0 and 1 for each gpu. That way, for example, adding an older game in your benchmark that runs at 500 fps doesn’t completely skew your average of earlier games that ran closer to the 0-100 fps regime. Otherwise, you are weighing older games that are more performant higher weight in the results instead of equally
