The determination, the shots, the music, the detail everything lovely. That's what we call "Meraki" here in Greece. One question though, as new to this whole detailing/valeting thing, why you used wax over the coat? Isn't the coat acting as a sealant as it is?
@RADGarage3 жыл бұрын
Well, there seems to be no end to how many "toppers" you can layer on your base ceramic coat base. I usually use a hydrophobic GTechniq top coat called "EXO", but opted to try a new wax that is formulated to work with ceramic coatings by Gyeon called Q2 Wax. Honestly, it gets a bit silly how many products you could now use on your paint.

I noticed you don't tape off the rubber or trim when applying the ceramic coating, but do not specifically apply to those areas. Does it not really matter if some gets on those surfaces?
@RADGarage3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I struggled with that a bit. I probably should have left the tape on for the coating. I did test the coating on a few inconspicuous pieces of trim and it really brought it back to black. I wasn't confident in moving forward with the bulk of the trim though so I opened for a water-based TACSYSTEM trim product. I did manage to get a bit of coating on the trim but it wiped off pretty easily. I'm not used to working on cars with as much plastic trim as this GLA.

Great vid Rick! One question, and my apologies if it’s already been asked- what’s your strategy behind drying the car before claying it? Seems like an extra step.
@RADGarage3 жыл бұрын
It's a valid question. Sometimes, I dry the car before claying because I am actually pausing the project at that point due to my timeline. By the time I get to that point, it has probably been 8 hours of work with the filming and everything. So, I have to dry the car all up before beginning the next stage of the process. That's the thing with these comprehensive videos, there are things that happen in order to keep the project rolling that aren't necessarily related to the actual detailing process. I hope that makes some sense. Great question though.

Would be interested to hear your thoughts on Gyeon's Q2 Wax as a standalone product. Great vid, great content, great music/vibes!
@RADGarage3 жыл бұрын
I can't blame the polishes too much. I did a complete 3-stage polish on that car and I probably could have got away with a CarPro Eraser wipe down, but I went the full wash route just to play it safe. I really liked those polishes, so I'll give them another shot! The Gyeon Q2M wax was a neat little experiment. It took more time that I would've anticipated to remove though. It's been a while since I have worked with a wax product so my methods were a little rusty. If I ever get a project in here that warrants a simple wax coat, I will definitely give it another shot. Thanks for the comment, James.

Another amazing video! What does the Adam's wheel cleaner smell like?
@RADGarage3 жыл бұрын
That's a good question. I have used it so much but I can't tell you off the top of my head what it smells like. It must have very little smell to leave me so at a loss for words.

How soon can you apply the wax? Is there a time frame?
@RADGarage3 жыл бұрын
I think you are good to go over the CSL 4 hours after application. I did the wax the next day giving the CSL 24 hours to fully cure.

Talk to us, Rick! How’d you like the wax install? It’s finally available to us next week
@RADGarage3 жыл бұрын
I found installing the wax a refreshing departure from the sometimes mundane task of laying down a topper like EXO. As with any wax, there were a few times where a little spritz of a spray like Eraser was necessary to remove. Overall, it’s a new approach to topping a ceramic base coat and it did add some formidable gloss and slickness.

That's awesome. I realized I have a different tip on that little 1.5 alkaline sprayer so I was worried I had steered you wrong! Thanks for watching this latest project. It was a marathon!

@@RADGarage haha yes I was using the blue one that originally came with the bottle but then I noticed your Instagram post showing the nozzle that you use and gave it a try. Man it’s so satisfying now when I’m applying the cleaner. Thank you so much for the tip!👌

How does adams wheel and tire cleaner compare to brake buster?
@RADGarage3 жыл бұрын
Very similar. Almost identical. I think the Adam’s lathers up better but both a great.

So the Gyeon is designed to go on top of a ceramic coating instead of something like Exo V4?
@RADGarage3 жыл бұрын
Yes. I thought I’d give it a shot.

Hey Rad! Great video as usual!...for the merino wash mitt used, how do you maintain it? Does it go in the wash machine?
@RADGarage3 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much. I just really rinse that mitt well and then let it dry. Once dry I just fluff it up with my hands. Very low maintenance.

Never seen a coating with a top coat of wax, seen it with sealant and wax But that looks pretty awesome .
@RADGarage2 жыл бұрын
Yeah, that was a first time for me but that’s what Gyeon says it is for. It did add a nice sheen to the blue paint. Thanks for watching! 🙏
