Top quality detailing work, just as I expected. What I didn't expect was the length of this video, I love it! The shot at 26:53 was so well synchronized with the music, amazing. I also really like you pulling of the Carpro Wheel covers so theatrically. Have you decided on the Rupes polisher holders yet? It looks great in combination with the cord clips. Today was the first day of serious snow in the Netherlands for 2 years, and I have now discovered how fast cars get dirty with icy salty roads, so hats off to you for maintaining your car so well!

I am quite happy with the Rupes holders now. It looks some getting used to the look, but I like it. I have a friend in Rotterdam who sent pics of the snow they recently received. PapaSmurf918 won't be happy to hear that! I fill the IK sprayer with 2/3 Adam's and 1/3 water. Sometimes, I will use it full strength. It doesn't work nearly as well when you get any higher dilution than that.

The determination, the shots, the music, the detail everything lovely. That's what we call "Meraki" here in Greece. One question though, as new to this whole detailing/valeting thing, why you used wax over the coat? Isn't the coat acting as a sealant as it is?
@RADGarage
@RADGarage 3 жыл бұрын
Well, there seems to be no end to how many "toppers" you can layer on your base ceramic coat base. I usually use a hydrophobic GTechniq top coat called "EXO", but opted to try a new wax that is formulated to work with ceramic coatings by Gyeon called Q2 Wax. Honestly, it gets a bit silly how many products you could now use on your paint.

I noticed you don't tape off the rubber or trim when applying the ceramic coating, but do not specifically apply to those areas. Does it not really matter if some gets on those surfaces?
@RADGarage
@RADGarage 3 жыл бұрын
Yeah, I struggled with that a bit. I probably should have left the tape on for the coating. I did test the coating on a few inconspicuous pieces of trim and it really brought it back to black. I wasn't confident in moving forward with the bulk of the trim though so I opened for a water-based TACSYSTEM trim product. I did manage to get a bit of coating on the trim but it wiped off pretty easily. I'm not used to working on cars with as much plastic trim as this GLA.

Great vid Rick! One question, and my apologies if it’s already been asked- what’s your strategy behind drying the car before claying it? Seems like an extra step.
@RADGarage
@RADGarage 3 жыл бұрын
It's a valid question. Sometimes, I dry the car before claying because I am actually pausing the project at that point due to my timeline. By the time I get to that point, it has probably been 8 hours of work with the filming and everything. So, I have to dry the car all up before beginning the next stage of the process. That's the thing with these comprehensive videos, there are things that happen in order to keep the project rolling that aren't necessarily related to the actual detailing process. I hope that makes some sense. Great question though.

Good eye Kyle. Wiping the wax away on the hood was a bit of a task. Made easier with a spritz of CarPro Eraser tho. It was very easy to wipe away everywhere else. I just laid it on super thick on the hood. I had that CSL coat set all night and tackled the wax the next afternoon but you don’t have to wait that long. I just always wait as long as possible when layering products.

How long did you let the ceramic cure before putting on the wax?
@RADGarage
@RADGarage 2 жыл бұрын
You are really testing my memory here. I am sure I did what I usually do and left the car overnight before applying the topper, which was a wax in this case. Correction and coating projects take many days here at RAD Garage!

So, that was a suggestion from the team at Carzilla. The customer stopped in and told them he was looking for a topper for the CSL and they recommending giving the Q2 Wax a go. I liked it, but I might go back to EXO next time. It will be interesting to see how it behaves so I'll have to stay in touch with the owner to get a report back. This wax is especially formulated to top ceramic coatings from what I understand.

Great wash! Looks like the TAC Systems polishes do dust quite a bit that it warranted a second wash. Definitely something to consider when looking to refill the polish stock. Would be interested to hear your thoughts on Gyeon's Q2 Wax as a standalone product. Great vid, great content, great music/vibes!
@RADGarage
@RADGarage 3 жыл бұрын
I can't blame the polishes too much. I did a complete 3-stage polish on that car and I probably could have got away with a CarPro Eraser wipe down, but I went the full wash route just to play it safe. I really liked those polishes, so I'll give them another shot! The Gyeon Q2M wax was a neat little experiment. It took more time that I would've anticipated to remove though. It's been a while since I have worked with a wax product so my methods were a little rusty. If I ever get a project in here that warrants a simple wax coat, I will definitely give it another shot. Thanks for the comment, James.

Nice work ! Let’s us know if possible later on if the wax was worth it over CSL . Having work with Gyeon products over the years their product line is pretty impressive . Will be testing Q2M wax myself also see how well it bonds with Gyeon & Cquartz coatings .

Talk to us, Rick! How’d you like the wax install? It’s finally available to us next week
@RADGarage
@RADGarage 3 жыл бұрын
I found installing the wax a refreshing departure from the sometimes mundane task of laying down a topper like EXO. As with any wax, there were a few times where a little spritz of a spray like Eraser was necessary to remove. Overall, it’s a new approach to topping a ceramic base coat and it did add some formidable gloss and slickness.
