I always liked this car and thought it was underappreciated. It can be coerced into making good power and it looks good and drives well. Plus, as you've clearly experienced, Toyota reliability is very strong with these cars, partly because they're naturally aspirated, but partly because Toyota just over-engineers the crap out of their vehicles so they tend to last forever until you finally force it to make enough power to crack the block or grenade the transmission or diff. I'd probably go with an electronic diff that you can flip a switch to lock out for drifting but re-enable for driving to wherever you need to go so it doesn't wreck your tires and try to toss you into a ditch or something, but that goes a bit counter to the "cheap as hell" build approach. Should be interesting and the ability to fit Supra drivetrain parts makes this a far more viable car due to the intense aftermarket love for the Supra. Love the absolutely massive trunk as well. I find it hilarious that this feature was 100% a luxury selling point at the time they made this thing.

Talk about the difference in the engines between Supra engines and the 300 engine. Like u said they have weaker rods. What else should we know
@ozarkscarguy5404 жыл бұрын
The bottom end is the same except the supra has oil squirters in the block and sc300 doesnt. The head is completely different and the sc300 has a thinner head gasket.
@RADIndustries4 жыл бұрын
It’s not a difference between a Supra and SC300. It’s more of difference between a GE and a GTE and then the third difference is the non VVTI GE. Lots of details but not to hard to remember. GTE is the turbo block with lower compression pistons and thicker rods and oil squirters. Non VVTI GE motors has thick rods like the GTE motors but had higher compression pistons and no squirters, then when the vvti GE came out in 98 they put thinner rods in these motors. All JZs share the same cranks. the GE motors all have single layer head gaskets. There are a few other details too but this should cover most of the questions you had
