Brian Hopkins Jones was the REAL REAL. A talented master of slide guitar, blues harmonica, marimba, flute, dulcimer and sitar. That exotic early blues sound and the out of this world feely psychedelic sound of 1967 is the result of Brian Jone's musical genius. A one of a kind once in a lifetime cool, hip and beautiful soul. His exotic sound is what made the Rolling Stones stand out. I always love downloading those early Ready Steady Go Stones performances because I can see and hear how talented this cool cat was. “All of the other bands used to copy The Beatles, now they all copy us”. That says it all. It’s funny they mentioned how they dress. The Stones were the first band to wear street clothes on stage as opposed to wearing matching outfits. Even when someone like Elvis dressed differently his band matched. It wasn’t until after The Stones that rock bands ended that.

In my early 20s as a musician, developing myself into a guy who played full time for about a dozen years once I had it down, while as a songwriter and singer I wanted to be Bryan Ferry, as a performer and guitarist I wanted to be Brian Jones. It was rythm, it was tough (many men don't know, but little girls understand) , and the Stones added some oxygene, performance energy, and vividness to it. The music had been there all the time in USA But the masters of segregation just didn't want acknowledge it. It took a band from over in England, to at last let America realize what it was already gifted with. And never you want to return to these forests of vanilla-soft-surfing - boys. and girls music since then, It comes in waves every decade, but soon shown to the wardsrobe where it came from, and back to stage again, letting crazy rythm vividness, and deep respect honor Rythm&Blues, and it is all what people remember from the days when they broke all barriers and offer even USA surfing blues- boys-----a lesson. I am pretty sure that Rolling Stones delivered the original, the very Mr Mc Kinley Morganfield performing in Stockholm, and it couldn't desert my mind since. Brian wrote the music for Ruby Tuesday. Well documented now since Mick came clean as to having nothing to with its composition. Brian probably helped Keith write the lyrics too. I will give Keith credit though. Brian would have never finished his movie score if Keith didn’t provide support and direction. Keith probably played on it as well. All uncredited. Nanker/Phelge was the name used for group compositions. That is Bill, Brian, Charlie, Keith and Mick. Phelge was Jimmy Phelge who lived with Brian, Keith and Mick at 102 Edith Grove Chelsea. A Nanker was a face pulled by Brian and Keith whereby they would push their nostrils up with two fingers and pull their eyes down with two fingers making a grotesque face for people they disliked.
