Wonderful Sir. Only Radio lovers understand the nostalgic moments. I still remember the programs on radio and day used to start with Radio and we never required clock. Based on programs, we used to understand the timing. My father still has his first asset Pine Radio purchased in 1968.

Mr. Uday Kalburgi is to be heartily praised for the fervor and dedication with which he has persued his love affair with that wonderful instrument, the radio. The labour and the wealth that he has expended upon his passion is truly amazing. But one correction, as already has been indicated earlier, the signature tune of AIR, was composed not by Hermann Hertz but by Walter Kaufman, a Jewish refugee from Bohemia ( now in Czech republic) who came to India, escaping the horrors of Nazi persecution.

Dharma Sir.....what nostalgia. Took me back to childhood days, we had a Murphy valve based radio at home. Used it until 1985 I think. Learning for today - I never knew that All India Radio's signature tune has been adopted from Herman Hertz tune.

I wish we could have donated the Philco imported radio our grandfather had.The Remco huge radio my father purchased and the Philips radiogram we had is still with my brother. It had a tiny diamond in its stylus. Several transistors were also there . I think they went to scrap dealers. So sad. Thanks to Sri Dharmendra

Lot of people are scrapping radios & cassette player. befriend any scrapwala & you might be lucky to get some old radios, cassette players, CD players for very cheap in his shop. If devices are faulty you don't lose much.
