43 years is probably an unfair comparison, you wouldn't have got three Sony portables in '77 for the price of 20 Major lol.

"Horrid little speaker" i had to laugh, but it is :-D Not big enough, soft cone needed. i was waiting for the screws to come out, i'm the same as you, gotta see what crap they put inside. Yep i expected one chip doing the lot but you got an audio amp as well, lucky man lol. Nice they gave you an led to waste the batterys lol. There is a white name on that pcb, something like JunkTec :-D

I had to smile as you stuck the batteries in and gave them a little spin. I always do the same to make sure that they contact well. As for the radio, not a bad effort for the price. I wonder what it sounds like with a decent pair of headphones plugged in rather than the "built down to a price" loudspeaker?

I bought one new for a £1 from a charity shop. The tuning is fiddly but I don’t think it’s too bad if your patient. Let down by the pathetic aerial.

I bought one, all I'll say is you get what you pay for.
