Aloha Walt, Man, you got me on a roll! I bought the QT80 Bundle with the G90 Fan tray and external speaker for $279 and I also bought this same antenna also. They wouldn’t ship my order to the United States but they would for the Republic Of Texas to the wife’s family that lives down there in Houston. I will be picking them up from the HNL airport later on this month just before Christmas. The wife and I have booked a trip to California at the end of January for a week and I plan on taking a couple of radios and mag mount antennas with me for some of the long drives between LA and south Orange County. I am so excited that you did a review of this antenna and the QT80 last week. I ❤ your channel and I have a few videos to catch up on yet today. A big Mahalo to you-WH6DWF🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

Great video Walt and great antenna! I was looking at that antenna because I need to build up my car-mounted antennas. I'm getting the QT80 next week, so I am really looking forward to having 80-watts. While it will never replace my G90, it is a good addition for those times when you need the extra watts. I love the idea of doing DXing with portable radios/export radios rather than huge base stations (nothing against them) with massive amplifiers. When I make a great contact long distance, I feel like I made a huge achievement. The other thing I love about my rigs is that I can use them anywhere. I was impressed that you made contact with a guy just up the road as well as across the Atlantic. Thanks again for your hard work in putting these videos together. They make my radio life a lot easier! 73...Hugh...KN6KNB

@COASTALWAVESWIRESАй бұрын
The difference I notice is the reports back to me, the 5-2 to 5-5 reports I get at certain distances seem to be 5-7 plus with 80 watts versus 20 watts. Thanks and 73

Some great contacts on that antenna ! That looks real nice. Love that loading coil ! large diameter wire and large outside diameter . That helps with Q factor of coil . That QT 80 had some great recieve ! The QT 60 I have has same great recieve . I love that about radioddity radios. That a great combo for a mobile setup ! A quick re tune and on CB . Love that tune chart ! You want 10 meter AM just tune 29 MHZ and have fun. That part of 10 meter band has been open as well. Even 29.6 MHZ FM part ! I worked a repeater in TX from NY on 10 meters FM ! Some AM POTA I went back to. Just watch power draw on AM/FM with that QT 80. Don't want to kill jeep battery ! That CBL-561 puts a 10 meter hamstick to shame ! You can us PC software with that QT 80 and change settings not in menu . I reset my SWR protect to 2:0 . And put some memories in. You can do that from the radio as well. I put my name on the display ! 10/11/12/15 meters lots of fun lately ! 73

Every time I watch one of your videos in which you utilize that monster magnetic antenna mount, it makes me green with envy. I've got a 2019 JLU Rubicon and, sadly, all of the body panels are either aluminum or fiberglass. So, no mag mounts for me. I can, however, use them on my 2013 F150 pickup. Love your equipment reviews. Keep it up! As always, thanks for sharing. Steve

I haven’t used it while driving but I have seen others doing it. The engine was directly under the mount and running during all of these QSOs because I was running the radio off the cigarette lighter and it will not work unless the Jeep is running.
