How he's playing it: 1st chord, E: 022100 (change up to 022200 now and again, you'll know where. Utilize your pinky finger. Listen to where he uses it or just throw it in when it feels right for you) 2nd chord, G#: 466544 (full bar) 3rd chord, A-mostly-sorta: 577600 (first and second strings are played open) 4th chord, Am-mostly-sorta: 577500 (he uses his thumb on the 6th string and moves his first finger to play the 3rd string. It just makes the transition smoother, faster, and easier. Once again the first and second strings are played open) Rinse and Repeat. Have fun! This is the best cover of this song I've ever heard and this key change is beyond refreshing. If only I could sing...

The Am must be played like this: 6 - x 5 - 7 fret. 4 - 7 fret. 3 - 5 fret. 2 - x (you can play this one on the 5 fret too, but it sounds better if you mute this note). 1 - x You're welcome!

What makes this cover so beautiful is the fact that Chase is singing this song from his heart. His emotional attachment to the lyrics are very powerful and heartfelt. Incredible artist. The thing I find really amazing is that he did this video when he was 18? He has exceptional control over an exceptional voice. And he clearly comes from a home sharing a love/passion for music, with a lot of exposure to great music. By far my favorite version of the song. I wonder what he could do in a professional studio, if this is what he does "at home" :) The more times I listen to it the more I'm blown away.

Your voice and your approach to singing continue to impress me, Chase. In this song you sang very well throughout and in almost "full voice" toward the end of the song. I have listened to several of your recordings and this is the first time I have heard you sing loudly. I have been wanting to hear you "belt out" a song so as to hear the strength of what I am calling your "full voice". This might be a challenge for you because this "belting" of a song (and the appropriate stylistic vocal choices) is what you would probably regard as "old school" but believe me, singers who can "belt" are favored tremendously by audiences. Judging from what I've heard so far, I believe you have the talent and flexibility to "belt" as well as to sing intimately. Regarding your performances I've heard up to this point, there is absolutely no doubt that you have a true gift for singing intimately which is one of the reasons I want to hear you sing the song "Like Someone In Love" which is an immensely beautiful "standard" perfectly suited to the sound of your voice and the naturally intimate way you sing. It is a song that was written many years ago but, IMO, music is ageless. I believe that a musical performer should never discriminate either in favor of or against a piece of music because of the age of that music. The song "Like Someone In Love" would fit your vocal talents like a custom tailored "musical glove". If I knew you personally, believe me, I would challenge you and help you to become an even better singer than you already are. So there is no misunderstanding, I am not looking to profit in any way from you. Simply stated, I want you to know I believe in your vocal and musical talent so much so that I find myself wanting to help you continue to improve and explore musically.
@TheJazzyVaudevillian8 жыл бұрын
Chase, Judging from your reply to me, my guess is in this message I am telling you about a situation of which you are unfamiliar. First of all, I am sure you know about "limiters" also known as "compressors" which are utilized in recording studios and in some live performances so as to keep a vocalist or an instrumentalist form singing too loudly into a microphone and causing distortion. What it seems that you don't know is that limiters (compressors) or a relatively recent invention when compared to the length of time musical performers have been using microphones. The older performers like Frank Sinatra, Elvis Presley, Ella Fitzgerald and others sang into microphones while utilizing what is referred to as "Mic technique". This technique is a skill unto itself. Good "Mic technique" takes practice. Basically though, it involves singing closer to the microphone when singing softly and backing away from the microphone when singing loudly so as to not distort. The trick is to make this technique sound natural and undisturbed. Watch videos of Frank Sinatra singing with a hand held microphone that were filmed in the 1950s and '60s. Sinatra was one of the masters of "Mic Technique" and his ability in this regard appeared so naturally that even though you watch for his "Mic technique" , at times it can be difficult to realize. I suggest strongly that you learn the "old style" "Mic technique because it is possible that you may give a performance in a venue where the sound system does not have a limiter. Incidentally, I too am a singer and years ago I recorded in studios before those studios had limiters. The "Mic technique" in a recording studio is somewhat similar to the technique as I have described previously except that the microphone remains still and while singing the body and, specifically the mouth of the singer moves back and forth from the microphone depending on how loud the singer is singing. Once again, using Frank Sinatra as a prime example, his Capitol Records recordings from the 1950s were recorded this way (with the assistance of a recording engineer) because there were, once again, no automated limiters in those days.
@TheJazzyVaudevillian8 жыл бұрын
I am very happy to help you, Chase. Just out of curiosity, where do you call home? I have a challenge and a a request for you: Put on a concert for us. I mean make a longer than normal video (maybe 30 minutes) during which you sing several songs the way you would if you were performing "in person" to an audience of people right there with you. Do this with no edits in the video - an actual non-stop "in concert" performance. If you want to be really brave you could do a "live" broadcast. For a video you will have to do a lot of sound checks so as to not distort during the recording. You said you have good "mic technique" during live performances, okay, then don't use a "limiter" during the making of this video (or live broadcast if you prefer). Sing for us your KZbin audience, Chase. Put on a show! You may even want to recruit the assistance of a couple of friends for this project to help with the cameras, sound and lighting. I offer you challenges like this one because I believe such challenges are good for your development as a performer. I very much believe in your talent and your strong potential for success. With KZbin, according to the view numbers, you have an audience of more than 15.000 viewers which is definitely more than a "concert size" audience. At this point, I won't give you any suggestions about the pacing of your performance because I want to see what you do instinctively. Later, if necessary, I will help you with pacing. If you want to contact me privately, for now contact me through KZbin private messaging. Later, if you want, I will give you a more direct way to contact me.

He’s great but Brian Justin Crum kills it with his version on AGT.
@aniechka4 жыл бұрын
@@TexCyn14, I disagree :) Crum's version in great too, but for me, this one is more touching. Because it's very personal, but at the same time more calm. I don't know if you've read Maugham's Theater. There is a moment where the main character, the actress, takes the stage and puts all her pain into the role. After the performance she is told that she has never played worse in her life. I'm not saying Crum's version is bad. It's just too personal for me. It's almost awkward to listen to him. And here ... It seems that Chase speaks on behalf of everyone who listens to him. This is some kind of global personification.

Chords: E, G#, A, Am. This is pretty much the whole song, but he holds the stings B and e on G# and lets go on them on A and Am, which is what gives them the touch 👌, that and the strumming, which most of it is up, instead of down. I hope this helps x) lol

Its 3am here in New Jersey😢. My stomach is getting worse by the day. It's not, and after the past 35 years, I am questing my future. I will miss music the most and u are part of that feeling.
