In a magazine, fans were asked to interpret the lyrics, and Thom himself rated their interpretations. This one was rated 11/10 by Thom. "The song is about the merging of life and death and getting past your mistakes. Yorke questions what comes in the afterlife. The waterfall represents moving on to the next world, and when he sees the light he thinks he may have seen death. but then he realizes there is a future and that he wants to live life to the fullest."

Frontman Thom Yorke said in a 2001 interview; The song really comes as much from what my long-term partner Rachel was saying to me, like she does all the time, "Be proud of what you've done. Don't look back and just carry on like nothing's happened. Just let the bad stuff go." When someone's constantly trying to help you out and you're trying to express something really awful, you're desperately trying to sort yourself out and you can't - you just can't. And then one day you finally hear them - you finally understand, after months and months of utter fucking torment: that's what that song is about."

@migol198410 жыл бұрын
i'm just gonna go ahead and say this because i am probably the only one that thinks this or knows about them since i am a spanish speaker, but there is one band that i can think of that does unorthodox things like that as well. and as it turns out, i too consider them one of the best bands i've ever seen live or listened to. if you listen to some of cafe tacuba's music their sounds jump from genre to genre, but some of their arrangements remind me of radiohead. listen to "encantamiento inutil" (a song for 9/11 tragedy) or to their instrumental track "intro" to "piedras verdes" soundtrack. their is one underlying similar fact that i find to great bands and it is that they have studied and understand music. two of the members of radiohead do in fact know how to read music. many of today's bands have been influenced by nirvana, who as you would know, proved that you didn't have to understand music to be rock legends. it brought some good but it has also brought bad music. anyways... i'm not necessarily saying you will like cafe tacuba because i understand their music is not for many. but your statement made me realize the connections. you should also listen to "andamios" "camino y vereda" and "reves" by cafe tacuba to understand their range of influence and style arrangements.

I listened to Radiohead's discography many times now, and despite being one of my least favorite songs, it is still brilliant, remarkable and memorable. That's the level of this band man

In my opinion, this is the best Radiohead song. Like imagine riding down the road at night with people who actually like you, whilst this song is playing and the windows are down and everyone is just vibing. Damn I wish I had friends that are chill like that

This song conveys a very particular melancholic feeling... like you're watching your life go by without any will left to try to change it... I used to get lost in in as a teen (and other kid a/amnesiac songs)

Can anyone confirm this was shot by S Muller with Savides (RIP) on camera with pinhole lenses. Seems to be the obvious thing but there's very little online about the production and shoot. Harris Savides was a genius in his own right.

This is one of the most peculiar songs I've heard. The instrumentals and the singing... don't match, mood-wise. The former is groovy and stuff, the latter is sad and angelic and stuff. Together, they create a feeling that I don't think I'll ever be able to put to words. Radiohead is the goat fr.

I might be wrong. I might be wrong. I could’ve sworn a saw a light, coming on. I used to think. i used to think. There was no future left at all. I used to think. Open up, begin again. Let’s go down the waterfall. Think about the good times and never look back. Never lock back. What would I do? What would i do? If i did not have you. Open up, let me in. Let’s go down the waterfall. Have ourselfs a good time, it’s nothing at all. It’s nothing at all. Nothing at all. Come back to me, again. Crawl back to me, again.
