Over time, Bloom has become my favourite Radiohead track, and this version now stands out, to me, as peak 'Head. The first passage is so claustrophobic and tense full of a yearning mirrored in the lyrics; "So why does it still hurt?". and needs the release of the second part, which reminds me of a mania or, fever dream. When the flugelhorns come in, trilling and soaring, I don't think I can imagine a more perfect musical moment.

I can't believe you actually reacted to the perfomance! I'm so happy rn
@nolestrono3 жыл бұрын
That is actually so crazy that you made the point about Bloom sounding like a novel, because from what I've heard Thom based the song around the idea of the hero's journey put into song form. I guess that shows how well he pulled it off.

The Daily Mail was included on the Stairway release, which I believe is also avaliable on Vinyl. It's such an incredible track, and so succinctly performed, you wouldn't tell it was live. Overall this mix is probably more accessible listening than the studio album; however as a lover of chill music myself, I cannot express my deep admiration for Codex --> Give up the Ghost.

The horn sections on this session are so amazing. In contrast, if you listen to horn sections from Kid A they are so much more abrasive. Horns used on TKOL are much more angelic.

Took me almost 6 years to actually digest TKOL. Now it’s one of my fav. Bloom is one of the greatest songs ever, there’s a lot going on in this song, it’s too much technical, but you can feel it, it’s a deep song. Radiohead is like wine, the more you listen the better it gets.
@Torthrodhel3 жыл бұрын
Yasssss Daily Mail! I know why it didn't make the album - it was such a departure from what they were going for on that album. But isn't it awesome tho! When you were talking about top tens... yeah I was thinking of that one. It's always in mine.

Best way to appreciate "Feral." Think of it as the inner mindset of a feral alleycat and the various emotions it may feel from its' own perspective. I think that's what they were going for, musically speaking. Complete with Thom's "meowing."

It's really amazing to see how these songs open up when they're played live. Especially when you realize how ANALOG (still electronic, of course, but not DIGITAL) the musicianship is.

My favorite thing about the second drummer (as others have pointed out: Clive Deamer) is that not only does he look like they cloned Phil... in the 2018 tour, he grew a goatee and he looked like he was Phil From The Darkest Timeline #SixSeasonsAndAMovie

So happy you are finally doing this that I am actually a little nervous but its only because I respect and value your opinion unlike a lot of people reacting to music now you do a great job and even got me into Muse a little bit although I think the only reason I didnt like Muse that much is because I had never heard them before and people kept saying they sounded like Radiohead and when they didnt I got a little pissed and disappointed if you cross Rush and Radiohead with a little Queen that would be a better description.
@jameshannagan78303 жыл бұрын
I am not sure I read it somewhere but there is an insane Miles Davis album called Bitches Brew that is totally a from chaos comes beauty type of thing where most of the songs just sound like noise until they resolve most of the time it is almost painful to listen to you can tell Radiohead loves that album and it influenced Bloom a lot.

I am pretty sure this song was inspired by the Miles Davis fusion record Bitches Brew on that record there a lot of musical chaos then some resolution sort of a from chaos comes beauty type of thing to me this song is like a musical orgasm I love it although I get a good laugh when Radiohead says they hate prog rock and are not a prog band tell me this is not prog.
