Fun fact: The studio version for My Iron Lung was, well technically not a studio version. They actually recorded this performance at the Astoria and used it for the E.P. and album. The only thing that’s was edited/ switched out was Thoms vocals and the audiences voice.

Joshua Burca John Leckie, the producer stated in the book “Exit Music: the Radiohead story” that they first recorded a studio version at RAK studio, but were unsatisfied with the results. But when the band listened to the live at Astoria version, he stated that it “met with everyone’s approval”. So he edited out the audience, cleaned it up a bit, and re-recorded Thoms vocals. I hope you’re safe too :)

i was like 10 when In Rainbows came out and my dad and brother just loved Radiohead but me as a dumb little kid just didn't get them until my dad rented Live at the Astoria from Netflix's old mail service. Watching them play these note perfect versions of their simpler, earlier albums really got me to start appreciating them. The Bends IS Radiohead. Us fans from the beginning, who had no idea what their "costumes" looked like like the majority of people posting here, passed around tapes of the Bends like it was forbidden. No local stores even know who they were. I'm still not sure where my friend got the Bends from. I assume he drove an hour to the big city by himself at 16 in his dead mom's minivan and bought it for $7. We had no idea what "cool" haircut Thom had. We didn't know who Thom Yorke was; never heard his name. Didn't hear his name afterwards; didn't care. We didn't care about haircuts and t-shirts and whatever else. They weren't on the radio and no one had the internet. We just knew the music. Most everyone else was listening to Tupac or the Spice Girls with the bass so loud their cars were raddling (while blacks laughed at them). I guess I'm "old". But I sometimes think about my mom's experience seeing the Beatles in concert just before they were etched in history. Back then, in my time, no one even thought about what someone looked like or the type of "cool" lights they had at their concert. For all we knew, Thom "what's his name" what a 7 foot black body builder. We only had their music and that was all that mattered. Now, even in these comments, everyone is talking about bangs and tennis shoes and how tall the singer is....

Something about the 94 performances just hits different. It's like the band's growing abilities as songwriters as well as their desire to distance themselves from Creep were coming out at full force. Exactly, but I think the songwriting in Pablo Honey is still pretty good. It was more the arrangements and their overall sound that was weak and obsolete. They're the most known unknown band. You don't have to feel and act like a hipster when you mention Radiohead because they are popular enough, but then again, no one I know listens to them, so you can't be annoyed by plebs about it, and you're gonna feel good once you meet someone that actually listens to them. Also, they're critically acclaimed to death so I know when someone tells me that they suck, they're either in the minority (which is ok) or just trolls. Also I'm glad Thom Yorke is not a big asshole in the media and quiet person I can relate to.

Well, I seem to be in the minority here, since I don't see anyone making the same argument, BUT I'll go out on a limb and say this was definitely Radiohead's live peak. Studio-wise I'll let others make the argument that they peaked with Ok Computer or even later albums, but live, well there I think they just lost that "edge" and some of that energy that they had in this performance and others in 1994. Can't quite put my finger on it, but this concerts feels like a proper "gig", full of unfiltered passion and energy, where as later shows (while still very good) feel a little more like going through the motions. Just my opinion of course!

Just imagine hearing these songs for the first time ever. Most of these songs hadn't been published or performed anywhere! "Another new song... sorry..." then launches into Blackstar with the no-intro/immediate verse *and my brain barfs all over itself OMG and then The Bends after creep. the crowd must've been like wtf is going on??? Sorry I'm just going to keep editing/adding to this comment as I continue watching, because this concert is blowing my mind away. You can see people clearly losing their shit by the time My Iron Lung comes around. There's jumping around happening in the crowd shots that could accurately be described as 'ecstatic frenzy' i.e. everyone is going mental, and rightfully so. Maquiladora is towering. Just a hot slab of 3-guitar perfection. The transformation of Pablo Honey-era sounds to this is jaw dropping. Quality of live performance is unreal. I forget how early-Ed was such a cheeky rock god. He seems hell bent on literally melting peoples' faces off. Jesus! Thom seems genuinely insecure about the new material. It's really interesting to see that. I love how Ed plays the ambient parts, specially in blow out, I can see how this got evolved into tracks like Treefingers and even House of Cards. Era un poquito de varias cosas realmente, no se si decirle que era Grunge, tenian bastante de Shoegaze tambien. Blow Out tranquilamente podria ser un tema de Ride

This entire concert is on fire. You, My Iron Lung, Blow Out, Maquiladora...honestly I think this is the hight of their powers in their guitar rock band era.
