It's only one song, actually called Weird Fishes/Arpeggi. Certain Radiohead songs are much easier on first listen, eg most of their pre- Kid A stuff. Their stuff from 2000 onwards is just as good, but it is often not as immediate.

I know we all sound pretentious saying you can't appreciate it on the first listen, but I'm the biggest Radiohead groupie, and honestly, every new album isn't super enjoyable on first listen. I mean, I think a lot of music works that way, but Radiohead really really push that grower angle. There's simply too much unpredictable stuff going on at once (weird sounds, strange time signatures, layers on layers, etc) and the climax typically happens once in a song. A lot of bands have 1 climax... I mean its the climax... but most music depends on hooks (a cool riff, a catchy melody, a funky rhythm groove)... Radiohead, especially post OKC Radiohead, focused on making songs where all the pieces are there to support the overall feel and climax of the song. Sometimes it never clicks and it'll never be your cup of tea. But even for almost all Radiohead fans, we don't typically love the song on first listen. We've simply loved a few of their songs and then knowing the payoff, we trek through and really force ourselves to learn the songs hoping we'll "get it". This isn't a Radiohead only thing, but they really push that far. Radiohead is my favorite band of all time, but any White Stripes or Led Zep or Pink Floyd album will probably be more enjoyable on first listen than any Radiohead album (especially everything after OKC) would be. I actually love seeing a musicians' analysis and subjective opinion of songs regardless of the outcome. People that get all pissy judging you are being stupid. I bet they forget that they probably didn't enjoy most songs until they gave themselves Stockholm Syndrome and listened to it at least 5-10 times. And there a thousand other super talented bands which they never got into. Keep up the honest reactions. Keep doing them Radiohead songs. It's always a good time. And I hope you get into some more Portishead songs too. I'm kind of into English head bands, what can I say.

Yeah, most of my favourite Radiohead songs were "growers". Radiohead in general are more of a "grower" band than an "instant banger" type of band.

When I first listened to started listening to In Rainbows way back when Weird Fishes really wasn’t one of the songs that stood out of the album. There very so many other heavy hitters like 15th Step, Reckoner and Jigsaw Falling into Place, but slowly and surely this song creep in on me and became one of my favorite Radiohead songs of all time. The arrangement is simply amazing.

believe me, this is a song that grows a lot (as most of radiohead's songs) when I listened to this song to the first time, it was nice, but it didn't blow my mind. It took me like 4 times to like the song as I like now, now, for me, it's a incredible song

You’ll always be way more of a musician than those hypocritical mouth breathers Dave! Aphex Twin fans are the most pretentious people on earth. Radiohead have a very vocal minority of pretentious fans but most love a lot of different kinds of music. Aphex Twin fans are fucking insane and have some sort of god-complex where every other type of music is beneath them.

How about the arpeggi, running through the song from beginning to end? How about the way the notes are distributed between the right and left channels, so the melody seems to bounce back and forth?

Huge Radiohead fan, there have been a couple times when you legitimately disliked a Radiohead song, I think you even weren't able to finish listening to one of them before, and it was kinda tough. But on the occasions when you did like a song that I also enjoy, it's pretty cool. But it's only pretty cool though, because I know you're being honest, it's worthless if I think you might be lying for views. Even songs that you don't like I enjoy hearing your thoughts on. Your taste and mine have some overlap, but is on the whole pretty different, which is actually better than if we had the exact same taste. I's not that interesting to hear someone say exactly the same things I feel already. It's a good chance to see how different people perceive music. There have even been times when you liked a song that I've loved for years, but for completely different reasons, and it made me hear the song a little differently. That's pretty cool too. Just keep doing what you're doing, you've got a pretty unique channel here.

When the album came out back then, I didn’t like this song much. Nothing really happened in it. The same problem was with Let Down when I heard Ok Computer ten years before. After hearing the records dozens of times, it happened. The songs found their place and eventually everything was in their right places.

This is before watching the reaction, idk how you’ll rate it yet or anything, but I just wanna say this ‘cause I feel you might not be a huge fan of this song. What I want to say is: This song was one of the song that I originally liked the LEAST on this album, but it’s grown on me a lot and is now one of my favourite Radiohead songs, it’s a grower, imo. Edit: huh, ya liked the song

I remember when I listened to "In rainbows" It reminded me of RHCP John Frusciante's style and approach to the guitar in this song and "reckoner". Later in an interview Thom Yorke confirmed the kind of tribute and how much he loves RHCP.

I think these are fair scores for first listens. I love these songs immensely, but on first listen, I underappreciated most of them. Maybe their arrangements tend to be unpredictable so if I don't know what's about to happen, it's a little jarring, to put that another way, once I'm familiar with the songs, I get quite a lot of enjoyment from the anticipation when waiting for the drops, swells, transitions, crescendos, whatever, it is the delivery fitting the expectation that must be rewarding.

I totally forgot I already watched this and saw my own comment..lol anyway, upon watching it again, I just wanted to point out that it's not two songs per se, but an actual arpeggi..I think weird fishes and arpeggi can be used interchangeably as the title.. The first time I heard this song, I hated the chorus, or was at least very underwhelmed by it. I do enjoy the rest of it though. The chorus kind of sticks out like a sore thumb and rips me out of the string plucking joy immersion..lol I'm sure it was written that way on purpose though and that might? be the point..I'm never certain with rh..love that they keep me guessing even when I don't love everything they do.. XO

My RH playlist consists mainly of ok computer, kid a, and amnesiac's songs. The instrumentation and the dynamics just isn't the same pre or post that period. This tune here is very stripped down, repetitive and homogenic compared to what they did during that period. And that annoying guitar loop in the background overstayed its welcome rather quick at the end. I could see your face going "man is that thing in the background ever going to stop"
