A much more accessible Radiohead song finally gets requested and guess what, he likes it.

I assumed he'd hate it for how mellow it is. I kind of want him to respond to The Tourist, just to see him hate on a song that I love so much. Like that's not a cool thing to feel, but something about me just wants to see how he'd tear into it, because I LOVE the pacing of that one, especially as the conclusion to the album.

@@ExileOnDaytonStreet I have a feeling a lot of their songs are thrown onto albums because of how they flow for the album experience. Look at TKOL and how they left off The Daily Mail and Staircase, 2 songs that might have been the best singles off that album had they been on. I agree I kind of enjoy watching him be like "wtf is this" sometimes. His reaction to Bloom was entertaining and authentic, and honestly, I think I probably had a similar reaction the first time I heard it. Now I love it, but if you're a Radiohead stan, you really push through forcing the acquired taste. Some other tracks that might have a similar effect... Motion Picture Soundtrack or Like Spinning Plates or Kid A. For me some of the best songs ever, but as first listens, they might be a little out of the box, and annoying, if that's not your jam.

It always worries me when you do a song from Ok Computer. It’s my favorite album of all time and I want to protect it like it’s my child. 🤣 I hope you don’t hurt my child, David. Ok, let’s see how this review goes. Update: Thank you for being nice to my beautiful baby. All joking aside, it’s amazing that after 25 years and thousands of listens, this album gives me goosebumps every time I put it on. Music is amazing!

I watch all your Radiohead reactions . Thanks for the explanation about the chords. I am not musical by any means so it’s interesting to hear their music explained by someone who knows music.
@lk-music2 жыл бұрын
I'm same, even though I've been playing instruments since childhood, I didn't study music so don't have the ability to listen to a song and figure its progression. I assume having perfect pitch helps, and I don't have that. I've played Lucky on piano for years and I still couldn't tell you the chord progression in terms of root, fifth, second, etc…, haha. All I know is it starts E minor and the rest is locked into procedural memory.

"Lucky" is such a great song. It is a delight to play those chords on an acoustic and 'attempt' to sing along, just pure joy. I think the way you have handled your RH reactions has been genuine and insightful - anyone who can't track with you - and this is for sure my favorite band for 20+ years. On an album of incredible songs throughout this one always stood out to me and was the first song that I was in love with immediately.

Beautiful thing about this song: there are keyboards in it, but it might not be the sounds you're thinking of. (Or maybe you are... hard to say) That high pitched oscillating sound is Ed O'Brien strumming his guitar above the nut, and playing that through a series of effects pedals, plus a wah. Jonny Greenwood plays a keyboard on a synth effect that sounds sort of like a choir (what you hear during the second verse), which he also uses when they're playing that mellow section in Paranoid Android (and a few others).

I'm not sure where to post suggestions, but given your complex history with RH, I'd love to suggest "sail to the moon." Not for why one would think, though. On a personal level, its my guess that you would probably dislike it very much (though I've been surprised before on this channel) what I would be interested in the most would be watching you work out all of the time changes and the marriage of the personal vs. Intellectual feelings about the song as a whole..

Holy sht, a hundred and three time changes? that's nuts. I gotta listen to that Dream Theater song sometime. How many hours would that take you to break down, I wonder.. RH's Climbing the walls fits in the context of this album, which this song is also part of. I wouldn't call it a stand alone hit like paranoid android was, and I probably wouldn't listen to it like that. Your reaction to it made sense. There's nothing you should apologize for. This song you're reacting to is the last or penultimate track. And helps taper off the highs an lows of the album. This is what I like about this and the following kid a, and amnesiac albums. They feel like concept albums meant to be listened in one sitting from the 1st to last track. And in my head Ok computer is a movie and a sequel to Pink Floyd's dsotm. Or the legitimate heir to it. However you want to categorize it
