Appreciate you checking this out! You hit the nail on the head with the sound pulling you deep into a psychedelic yet ominous space, in conjunction with the haunting yet hopeful lyrics. It’s a song (and band) that makes you FEEL. Thom Yorke (lead vocals, guitar) has spoke in length about mental health and how it’s inspired his music, so your take on the certain “feeling” it brings up just goes to show how genuine not only the music is, but how genuine your reaction to it was as well. Glad you enjoyed, and even more glad to hear about your sobriety and awareness regarding your mental health ❤ appreciate you man.

Such a great song. One i will be revisiting for sure. I am truly in awe of how these incredible artists can convey certain emotions. It is almost like telepathy. Definitely need to read up on Thom Yorke. Thanks so much for this one!

@@SaeedReacts. Radiohead excel at creating a powerful emotional atmosphere and than they hit you with these beautiful little pocket universe's that you can dwell in bliss for surprisingly long periods of time. Then occasionally they write a more "normal" song and it's amazing and they did that just enough to ensure financial success and so they can actually do whatever their muse's tell them. They really are incredible they have a huge b-side collection that has more great songs than a lot of bands have regular album tracks.

I am a MASSIVE Radiohead fan!! I love them so much! They are in my opinion the most creative, original, talented, gifted musicians out there. I love so many genre's of music, I love so many bands but when I take their entire corpus of material and add it all up, Radiohead still sits at the top for me. They are way way ahead of their time and I appreciate them so much. My favs are all their live performances and In Rainbows is my favorite album of theirs and In the Basement is so phenomenal because you get to see just how incredibly gifted they really are! It's one thing to play someone else's songs as covers or sing along and sound great, but it's entirely another realm of actually being the creators of these tunes. I put them at the top for that very reason. They do their own thing and invite people to come along if you want to. My favs are "Creep", "Paranoid Android" live at Jools Holland BBC and all of In Rainbows, especially "Weird Fishes/Arpeggi", "15 Step", "All I Need", "Reckoner" Radiohead - Street Spirit (Fade Out) as well as Radiohead - Creep (Best live performance) on KZbin, I love Thom and Jonny's The Smile. Thanks Saeed!!

Very, very few bands have a body of work that can match them, for me they are in the same league as The Beatles and Pink Floyd, if Jonny Greenwood did a 2 minute guitar solo every other song they would be the biggest band ever, but he doesn't.... and I love him for that.

You're right on the money to me and very well said. I think in a hundred years people very well may be listening to Radiohead and talking about the composition and performance of this band still, kind of like how people still listen to the Beatles. I had more to say but my cat insists on sitting in the crook of my neck and on top of the keyboard and purring like a motor boat. I would imagine this is a pretty disjointed post.

weird fishes = feared wishes i always thought this song might be about someone at the depths of sorrow and loneliness ("bottom of the ocean" meaning he's completely isolated and alone) being led by the eyes of someone he's fallen in love with ("your eyes/they turn me"). that love turns out to be fake but he's trying as hard as he can to keep feeling that initial love, to the point of being completely subservient to it, to no avail ("turn me into phantoms" and "follow where you lead"). he imagines that everybody he knows turns away from him (everybody leaves/when they get the chance") and he doesn't want to be the person that leaves but that plastic love makes him feel worse and worse, and in the end he can't stand it anymore and leaves ("this/is my chance" connecting everybody leaving him and him leaving that love) leaving him broken ("eaten...picked over by the worms") and ridden with guilt ("eaten by... weird fishes" which is 'feared wishes'. he's scared but hopeful for that love but he leaves because it's eating him up inside). eventually he ends up right back where he was, having escaped the fake love but being alone again ("I hit the bottom/and escape", the bottom i assume is the bottom of the sea where he was at the beginning of this song). that's just my pov but obvs others can have different perspectives

This is one of my favorite songs off one of my favorite albums. This song really showcases the musicality of each band member. Thom's lead vocals are second to none. OB's background vocals are, in my opinion, the best background vocals laid down on tape. Let's not forget Phil the human metronome here. This song and Subterranean Homesick Aliens really transport you to somewhere else. I am glad you discovered this song.

I understand your uneasy druggy feeling. One time when i saw Radiohead, I think the Kid A tour, I had a near out of body experience. Their stage set-up, including the lights, is HIGH TECH!
