Hello Bill, and Siddharth, I just hooked up my RC3S to Lion Whisker last night and like you Siddharth, i was wondering if I could use channels 3 and/or 4 for my LED systems. They didn't automatically work and after spending an hour with the set up trying things and reading the manual I was unable to get any positive results. Bill, any thoughts? Do I some how have to incorporate a servo with the channel that allows me to switch the lights on and off?

Luke Bluske ... I'll have to play with it and see what I can do.... are you trying to use the ground + signal to pull voltage to power the lights? If I'm successful, I'll post a quick video demo of it.

Yes Bill. Use the white wire to tell the channel to supply the voltage to the lights which are plugged into the respective channel port. When I first saw your review I imagined the ch3 as a light dimmer switch and then I thought what about using ch4 and mix it with the accelerator to make my tail pipes and "engine" lights glow as I accelerate. +HIGH FRANK, I wouldn't power anything off CH3 if the gyro is active, you risk burning up both ports 1 and 3 if you do that... I've powered plenty of stuff on Ch4 where the only limit is whatever your BEC can provide through the ESC. Good luck!

Thanks for the videos and review of this radio - recently my gt3b started glitching, which is not exactly safe with 1/8th scale truck, so I decided to order a gt3c as a replacement, but accidentally saw your review of RC3S at URC, as a result changed my mind and couple days ago ordered RC3s instead) Now trying to find a 2s/3s lipo that would fit inside, or at least 6*aa holder - 4*AA NiMh is not really an option in cold temperature with 4.8v minimum operating voltage...

check out eBay and do a search for "LiPo Transmitter pack" then double check the dimensions of the battery tray to make sure it fits. I think the IP 2300mAh pack will fit nicely.

Bill DeLong After some research I decided not to bother with Lipo in Tx - just ordered 4 Ni-Zn AA cells with charger from Hobbyking - cheap as chips and gives high enough voltage without any modifications)

Does the TX have a bind mode? Trying to figure out it there are any other RX it might bind to.

There is no limit to the number of Radiolink branded Rx's that can bind to this Tx, however they must be the older version Rx, there is a newer 32bit RC4GS radio that uses more frequencies and will not be compatible with the Rx's used on the older RC3S you see in this video. There is nothing you need to touch on the Tx, just keep the Tx turned on and simply hold the button on the Rx until it starts to blink, then the Tx will automatically bind with it. a few questions if you don't mind ...how would you mount the receiver on double stick tape or Velcro? my other question is the steering is reversed ,should I rebind my receiver to the radio again ,because my servo reversing is not working . thank you

+HIGH FRANK, I prefer to use velcro and I also use a rubbing alcohol swab to clean/degrease both sides of plastic surfaces to get the best bond. You can reverse the servo direction in the menu settings as explained in the manual: www.ultimaterc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=217514

+HIGH FRANK, lately I've been running alkaline cells because I don't use the radio nearly as often because it's mostly a backup radio. But when I was racing regularly with it I prefered 3S just to have peace of mind on voltage, but really 2S is more then enough power too. I've also raced with NiMH cells and they worked just fine as well

Can channel 4 (the momentary switch) be defined as a toggle (push on, push off)? Also, Is the steering auto-centering or completely smooth? If this transmitter isn't what I'm looking for, can you suggest a budget transmitter with a toggled ch 4 and non auto-centering?

+Warndog, yes the Aux channels (3/4) are fully selectable between momentary or on/off as well as moved between channels or shared. In order to disable the auto-centering on the steering, you can simple remove the spring from inside the steering wheel, simply remove a few screws to get inside the case to remove the spring and then you're all set. I'm not sure I understand the question, are you asking about mixing channels or simple reversing of each channel? Yes you can reverse each channel independently from each other as well as mix any of the first 3 channels together too.

+Vasilis Analytis, Hi Vasilis, the FS is calibrated through the Rx, it basically goes back to neutral on the throttle channel when the Tx signal is lost. There is no calibration available for it with the Radiolink branded version, however there is a new firmware upgrade on the TS4G from HobbyKing that gives you the option to change the calibration for the neutral range on the FS.

+HIGH FRANK I've never had to calibrate the radio, only the ESC... it might be necessary to calibrate the radio if it fails to return to center properly. This is possible if the springs start to fail or if you spend too much time with full steering lock to one side. I can see that happening if someone stored the radio with another object resting on the grip causing stress on the spring, etc.

Hello, I have an old Tamiya Dirt Trasher with Tamiya TEU 101BK SC wich used to have reverse....I can't figure out how to make it work with RC3S. Is it possible? Any Ideas?

Bill, why does the switch return to its original position instead of an "off or on" state? I would hope that is adjustable. This would be needed for a high-low switch on a summit.

Ouch! That is kinda frustrating. Not a deal breaker if the radio does 2 channels extremely well. There are a ton of awesome features that outweigh the quirky switch. 7 character naming alone is huge, not to mention the voltage and chemistry flexibility.

yes, this radio is capable of storing up to 10 model memories, there is no limit to the number of Rx's that can bind to it.

not sure I understand the question, it offers the same model memory feature as every other brand of radio that I've tested to include: Radiopost, KO Propo, Futaba, Graupner, Hitec, Spektrum and yes... Fly Sky too. Every system I've tested requires each Rx to bind to the Tx and you can switch between each paired Rx... there are some systems which only allow control of 1 Rx at a time to prevent accidental use of the wrong car, that feature is not offered with Radiolink.

+HIGH FRANK... the BEC is voltage regulator built into the ESC, it converts voltage from your battery pack to a lower voltage somewhere between 4.8V to 6.0V typically. The HV Rx's from Radiolink can handle up to 10.0V

+HIGH FRANK, pretty sure your ESC has a built in BEC, with voltage being supplied through the red wire from the ESC into the Rx, simply hook it up into Ch2, then your servo is hooked up to Ch1, when you turn on the ESC then power is automatically supplied to the Rx, hence the meaning BEC = Battery Eliminating Circuit because you don't need an separate battery pack for the Rx anymore.

all depends on what your ESC instructions say... most require the Tx to be reversed... follow the manual to get into the menu option for reversing the throttle, if you're using a sensorless motor, then you might need to swap any 2 of the 3 wires going to the motor, or depending on your ESC, some will reverse the direction within the program settings of the ESC

I'm not certain... I don't have a rebrand from Turnigy to test, but I have heard of mixed results from others in the past and would probably play it safe and stick with the Turnigy branded stuff... it's not uncommon for the OEM's to create different firmware for the rebrands to make them not compatible even though the product comes from the same OEM, go figure?

without a doubt... I've tested Fly Sky FS-GT2, GT3B and GT3C... all of those radios use direct sequencing which are prone to glitching and range issues as well as a myriad of defects from poor switches, failed charging jacks, faulty expo rates, reversed dial selectors, etc... far too many deficiencies with FlySky radios... so far not a single complaint with the RC3S yet... click the link in the description of the video for more details to include spectrometer tests.
