My Wifey from another Lifey. I'll never forget when I first heard her voice on the radio while at work: Heaven Knows, 1990. Instantly entralled, I knew immediately this lady had to be the progeny of Donny. It made me do something I never do: I called the station to get her name and the song title. After work immediately went to a local music store(back when they were still commonplace, sigh) and bought her self-titled debut album. #Fan4Life

And here I thought *I* was the only one actually *physically,* maybe even *metaphysically,* moved by her voice. It is a thing of beauty, and a genuine gift!...anyway, you know what they say about *great minds.....*

Rap/trap has infiltrated r&b to the bone. If something doesn't drastically change by 2020, r&b will be obsolete. Realistically, it's looking pretty grim. There are no big-time outlets for r&b. We have true blue r&b singers, but _the powers that be_ won't promote them anymore. R&B can't survive (as a whole) in the independent market because it always ends up drifting off into outer space. Record sales - some of our favorites are selling 4,000 to 17,000 copies, overall. Most of y'all have flopped or have been dropped from major labels. After recoupment, independent artists make 10 cent to 14 cents per album. And then you have to spend money to create the damn thing. Hell, you might as well just keep releasing singles for free, if you wanna keep putting out new music that nobody will end up hearing about and tour off of the old stuff. Touring..... a lot of artists won't say this, pero touring is major wear & tear, if it's consistent and you have bills to pay. I hope things change for the better, Auntie Lalah, or else you gon be on reality tv. wit a blonde lace-front and throwin' drinks on folks.....

R& B will NEVER succumb to a genre of music that is spineless and soulless. Rap / trap music isn't made to stand the test of time it's only a different PHASE of RAP. Unfortunately, it offers nothing of value to society but is more of a devolution than an evolution of music. It's not even a part of Hip-Hop. It's lumped in that same category with mumble rap which is all like ' junk food' to our souls. It symbolizes a certain segment of our culture that has regressed into buffoonery and senselessness. Unless 'Auntie' Lalah Hathaway loses that beautiful God given gift --she won't ever have to resort to going on [Reality] Trash Tv wearin' a blonde lace-front throwin' drinks and degrading themselves for $. What you omitted in your evaluation of R&B's status quo is how much R&B legends / Old School artists are still selling out arenas. Music is timeless..and when it's QUALITY and SUBSTANTIVE it will always have a place in our hearts, minds , consciousness...connecting us to something deeper within our souls. The only thing Rap / trap has infiltrated is feeble minds and those ignorant to R&B...music history period.
