I'm really late but I love this channel. I found you guys from searching about the grand northern conspiracy and then listened to the video on lady stoneheart. That reading from the scene of the red wedding was heart wrenching and the best I've heard.

Bravo. So enjoyable on many levels. Thanks. This episode really helped me to understand more clearly the shift I felt when reading once Lady Stoneheart is "awakened". I love the Robin Hood parallel. Loved the song, it really sets the proper tone. I look forward to the coming "storm" in the river lands. I was very fond of Lord Beric and his motley crew. An excellent episode choice.

While the individual make up of the BWB (and KWB) is based on Robin Hood and his Merry Men, how the BWB actually operates (as we see during Arya's time with them) and prosecutes their war is largely based on resistance, partisan, insurgent, and just plain bandit groups of the 20th and 21st century - particularly the ones sprinkled literally in every occupied country during the Second World War. In fact, I'd argue this mix of cold realism (including the undercurrent of collective guilt and the eventual turn the BWB undertakes whilst LSH is at the helm), with the 'romantic' imagery of Robin Hood is right up GRRM's alley. In truth, while these groups would often act as a surreptitious police force - when pressed against the wall and in need of supplies they would have little apprehensions from engaging in the same 'forced requisitioning' of the resources of the same people they'd otherwise protect. That's the hard truth, and GRRM doesn't shy away from this in portraying the BWB.

This lends credit to the idea of the of 3 heads of the dragon in the Azor Ahai prophecy to point to Jon, Brienne (mother unknown and thus could still be targ, link to Duncan the Tall, and the obvious personification of Sir Gallahad) and The (next) Star of the Morning (Who in the house of Dayne is worthy?.. and who has the Targ connection?). It would indeed be interesting if Lem is indeed Richard Lonmouth as the missing piece of information between Rhaegar and Robbert. He might also know more about Ned Stark's involvement, and also has a connection with the House of Dayne (or information) trough Edric, and might have been in a good position to know more about Ashara (and Allyria). Interesting to see is the symbolism of the sigils of the House Of Dayne ( in connection with Dawn, and the Sword of the Morning) and the House of Tarth (sigil: Night and Day, Day and Night.. that now seems to have a connection with the sigil of Duncan The Tall - who also has a connection with /knowledge of King Aegon and Prince Rhaegar, and Brienne seems very fire and ice as a character on top of that). But also both of these houses seem to have an odd connection with the Brotherhood without Banners and the fact that they don't have a sigil (symbolicly 'a darkness/night'). Although they seem to become even darker in purpose, but also collecting more sigils under the leadership of Lady Stoneheart. Remarkable how little we actually know about the House of Dayne and its family tree or its knights. It feels like there might be lots of allusions towards them, but little to tie it up.

Did the riverland lords help the bwb before or after being intimidated by lady stoneheart??? And could the bandits with wolfish hearts actually be nymeria's actual wolf pack hunting frey and lannister men?

I really love your show (I'm busy with my second listening) but the BWB have no affinity for the North. The Zombie is a Tully and the BWB has as much contempt for Lions as for Wolfs. Perhaps they have ulterior motives in addition to vengeance! The Black Fish squired for a Targaryen supporter, the Darys and other riverland houses were aswell.

@RadioWesteros
@RadioWesteros 8 жыл бұрын
+Vincent Amour It's blood magic-- from Arya VI in ASoS: "Unsmiling, Lord Beric laid the edge of his longsword against the palm of his left hand, and drew it slowly down. Blood ran dark from the gash he made, and washed over the steel. And then the sword took fire."
@osirisgem

by that logic wouldn't blood in and of it's self be an effective weapon against the others?

Well I guess either you guys or WOIAF app one is wrong. The Lem stuff piqued my interest so I went looking for Ser Richard, of course no mention, so I went to Lem. It reads “Lem is one of the men in Lord Beric’s band, appointed by Lord Eddard Stark to bring Ser Gregor Clegane to justice. (The key part) *Surviving Clegane’s ambush* at the Mummer’s ford, he remains with Lord Beric and Thoros of Myr and becomes an adherent of R’hllor.”

Radio Westeros oh haha nbd it was just in relation to when Lem joined up with BWB
@RadioWesteros
@RadioWesteros 4 жыл бұрын
Ah gotcha. Since that info isn’t anywhere in the books, we think the app is either shortcutting or assuming there. It does that a lot and since it’s not written by GRRM we consider it a good reference tool but not full canon. FWIW, all indications in the text are that Lem hails from the Riverlands.
@For_The_Watch

Radio Westeros 👍 oh for sure and it does nothing to the theory whether he was In The throne room or not, and I’d have to imagine if he was he had come from the river lands anyway.

The show is butchering all the Brotherhood stands for.... what are your thoughts on HBO's Brotherhood Without Manners???
@RadioWesteros
@RadioWesteros 8 жыл бұрын
Basically that HBO has merged the storylines of the BwB and the broken men of AFfC. For more detail, I discussed it with History of Westeros on the book to show review last week. -LG
@kevinmoore4237
@kevinmoore4237 8 жыл бұрын
It's like merging the characters of Tywin Lannister and Samwell Tarly. The show has really outdone itself this week - reaching new peaks of disrespect for a great piece of literature.
@kaseridonrivers9324
@kaseridonrivers9324 8 жыл бұрын
+Kevin Moore Hardly. The show turned the butcherers into deserters, thus the Brotherhood itself isn't even bad itself. Unless you're purely annoyed theres no Lady Stoneheart in the show.
@ThePeterBluth
@ThePeterBluth 8 жыл бұрын
So you're telling us that there's not a snowball's chance in hell of there being broken men amongst the BwB? I mean, they're the ones in the down and dirty. The chances of them having those guys being among them is even higher.
@hambino28
@hambino28 8 жыл бұрын
Under Berric they are a coalition united in protecting the weak and so not really broken... under Stone Heart though there is the chance that they are all broken and severely lost.
