Just a couple thoughts, I was in the rental property maintenance business about 30 years before becoming a Home Inspector. I was researching proper crawlspace mitigation techniques for Radon and found your video. I inspected a radon system in a crawlspace similar to this one recently. The vacuum on the manometer looked great like yours, but only because the plastic vapor barrier got sucked in the end of the 4" pvc pipe and blocking the flow! Even if it wasn't blocking the end it would just suck the plastic down to the ground around it and show a false vacuum. I tested the radon levels of the home with the latest professional electronic testing device and got around 14 pCi/L average over the 48 hour test period, way above the EPA recommended action level of 4.0 pCi/L. At least your vapor barrier is sealed around the perimeter. The one I looked at was not even sealed at most of the walls, piers or overlaps so it wouldn't get a proper vacuum under the vapor barrier anyway. Also, installed by professionals lol. I can think of better methods for sure but these are not working. Might even get a better reading with a vacuum on top of the barrier. It would be interesting to see. One other thing you might consider, that water alarm you showed only works when moisture contacts the two metallic sensor discs, so if left hanging above the ground the way it was you may have 2 feet of water down there before it sounds the alarm. :o) Have fun!

Good video, but it didn't address the big unknown for someone like me who hasn't done a crawl space radon mitigation installation before: information about how to prep the ground hole for the pipe going thru the plastic mat and down into the ground. Info such as hole depth, diameter, is it filled with gravel after the pipe is inserted, is the buried part of the pipe perforated (holes drilled, etc. Thanks!

Thanks for watching & we appreciate you reaching out to us. Are you doing this entire install yourself? We had a professional company install ours. As far as all the specifications, all was completed by technicians. Keep us posted on your project. 😎👍🔧🔩

how loud is the fan?

Thanks for watching & welcome to the DIY Raptor Club. If fan is in attic, it’s hard to hear. We actually never hear our attic fan during the day however every now & then on the quietest nights...no wind, no rain, no cars driving by, no coyotes howling...nothing...we can hear the fan however you really have to listen for it. The fan shown in this video is outside & right below kitchen sink window. We could hear that fan more often. What state are you in? Im hoping its Ohio so I can report that system to the state. Typical cheap SWAT system that has several code violations.

That is a typical poorly installed SWAT system. They're known as the "Walmart" of the Radon industry.
