In Iowa - home inspectors do not need to be licensed to inspect homes - they do have to be certified to measure radon. Everyone should really check everyones credentials of the home inspector and radon measurement experts regardless of your state. In Iowas a Quality Assurance plan has to be submitted for the radon measurement machine you use (which must be certified by the EPA) before you can measure radon. It would be nice if all states got on board with Escalating the impotance of mitigating radon. RAdon Mitigators do have to be licenced and certified in IA as well.

Can a remediation system drops the radon level from 55 to 2?

The test subjects are humans in mines. How many of these homes are in mines? What a joke.

What a bullshit? From a geologist point of view, there is no system today that eliminates the presence of radon unless you remove all the soil, bedrock or the grade on which the foundation and the house sets and even if you do that remains in the air. However, this is more like a placebo pill which makes a very good niche to make a lot of money and good for you If homeowners are not educating themselves and learn that a $30 fan/venting outside can take care of pretty much any kind of soil emanations, fumes, odors. It is more dangerous the microwave radiations than the overrated and blown out of proportions radon gas which is not only coming from the ground beneath homes, streets or buildings through cracks, sumps, joints, floor drains or other tiny openings in foundations or crawl spaces but is present in everything including your car. From a scientific aspect and based in evidence radon is considered a noble gas due to its none aversive which does not rise more than few inches from the ground and last more than minutes until entering in contact with other gases, particles of any kind extending its presence which exists even in the most unpolluted areas because it is in the air and you can not give read of it. Your 150 grams of potassium present in your body emanates more toxic radiation than all the radon present in 1000 homes. People exposed to radon are at a greater risk of developing lung cancer. EPA recommends taking action to reduce radon in homes that have a radon level at or above 4 picocuries per liter (pCi/L) of air (a “picocurie” is a common unit for measuring the amount of radioactivity). Oh EPA recommends based on what? it is no scientific evidence of such claim considering that 1 picocurie is the equivalent of a nanogram. What a bullshit? let me educate you Radon (Rn) is a radioactive, colorless, odorless and tasteless gas that occurs naturally as the decay product of the elements radium, uranium and thorium. It is an inert or a noble gas like I said, meaning it is inactive chemically and combines with other substances only under extreme conditions also dense and known as the heaviest gas which like most gasses is considered a health hazard due to its radioactivity. Radon is rare in nature because its isotopes are so short lived and since its main source radium is also quite rare and in spite of all negative bullshit for thousands of years, people have bathed in natural hot springs for the therapeutic properties of the water. Many of these spas have been found to contain radon. And yet, rather than developing radiation sickness or cancer, many studies prove that bathing in the radon-rich groundwater reduces inflammation and pain. LOOK IT UP

So true. Just another government manufactured business. Creates a crap load of jobs for people that do not mind scamming people out of their money for their own greed.

Radon is radiation. Homeowners may install radon mitigation themselves. For your safety and the safety of others, please refer to EPA radon mitigation system installation guidelines if you are doing the work yourself. If you are hiring someone to install a radon mitigation system in your home, please know that many states require radon mitigators to be trained and licensed by the state's Department of Health. Contact your state's Dept of Health for more information
