I grew up listening to RZA, Wu Tang is my favourite group in any genre of music, I know Wu and RZA like the back of my hand and he sounded absolutely NOTHING like RZA, not even close. It can almost hear what he's TRYING to do, but failing miserably at it and it's not entirely his fault, somebody should have told him to tone it down. I honestly don't know who I would have cast to be honest, I'm no casting director but the casting was on point for 95% of the show, especially ODB, Divine, Rae and Power but I don't know what RZA was thinking when he picked Ashton. Good actor, bad casting choice.@@mr.smellgood2794

I agree I feel like a movie really wouldn't do wutangs story justice, especially since their are like multiple members. I don't know if a 2 hour movie could really have enough time to protray every member accurately Like the Straight Outta Compton movie is a good example I thought it was pretty good but i feel like a lotta roles got pushed to the side, like mc ren and yella got done kinda dirty in that movie ngl

The reason it’s too hard to make a biopic movie about wu tang is because they have so many different members and so many diff characters. You can’t do all of them justice and tell a proper story in a 2 hour movie. A series is the right move. They can tell the story in depth and properly over several episodes and season

I think for these times RZA made the right decision because Netflix and Hulu series are more popular now then movies are. But I think RZA made the right decision.

I like how even when Rae disagrees with RZA, he still does it in a respectful way, because he ultimately realizes what that man has done for his life overall. That was the one thing I didn't like about U-God's interview. He shitted on RZA a lot. And while I understand (having been in a group myself), everything doesn't always go your way, I don't get how he could so cavalierly disrespect the man that put him in a life-changing position.

I highly doubt a Wu film is next up. The NWA film was movie of the year material. It was hot. That fire has gone out now, so Wu Tang won't benefit from it. Then there is the fact that there is already a Hulu series, so it's probably more likely that, if they want to make another hip hop biopic, they'll go with someone else. Someone who doesn't already have a series or a film.

@@KD_SWAGGER that'll be a long time. Plenty of other biopics will be prioritized. I think RZA made a stupid decision here. A Wu film with Leonardo DiCaprio attached to it, would've gotten them more money and fame. Yes, fame is important too. Sure, they're famous... But a Wu film with Leonardo DiCaprio could've put the spotlight back on them. They've not been in the spotlight for like two decades. Instead, they turned Leonardo DiCaprio down and went with a Hulu series that no one watches. Heck, even if i wanted to watch it, it's not available internationally. I'm in Europe. That series got them zero recognition. A Leonardo DiCaprio film might've made them one of the biggest names of the year. He was looking at big names to direct it. The film would've gotten proper attention. Remember the NWA film? If NWA had decided a Hulu series was the way to go, no one would've noticed.

In all respects to Rae, it's really the reason why the RZA is the RZA. He was the one with the plan and made every single member an icon off the strength of his vision. And everything Rae is talking about would have been way more expensive than the production of the cost to make a series. So seeing the bigger picture than just the awe of it. Lower production cost could net higher profit margin than producing a movie with a much higher budget.

And a chance for the actors to shine, and for the show to be its own thing, rather than trying to be a replica of the original. I mean, look at All Eyez on Me, and how it was such a mess as it tried to be a carbon copy of Pac. Now look at the Bob Dylan movie, I'm not There, where they have different actors playing different pieces of Dylan, original.

With all due respect to Rae, a movie would have never worked, it would have been absolutely horrible. The series was perfect, it was paced well with time to build on the story and the building of the group and all the members (and the concept episodes off the back of all the albums was another great touch). RZA knows exactly what he’s doing as far as creative direction, which is why the series turned out so great.

I dont remember who did the interview but it sounded obvious saying so many seasons in the pitch was business & he didn't really want the show to be 6 seasons.
