She Chose Me
Written by RaeLynn, Jimmy Robbins, Josh Thompson
Lyrics:
She was a bible belt lovin’ believer
With a 12-year ring on her hand
Got a little too close to the fire
And started burnin’ for another man
One thing lead to another
At a motel in Galveston Bay
They didn’t know it at the time
But more than just love was made
That’s one hell of a choice to make
If it went the other way nobody would have blamed her
Think of all the small town talk it would have saved her
She could have chosen one quick fix
To get her out of one big mess
She could have tied a different ribbon to the ending of the story
Coulda kept her secret, gotten out before it
Changed her life, she could've changed her mind
And changed everything
But she chose me
She didn’t quite know how to tell him
You try to speak a truth like that
She didn’t know where to turn to
But she knew a way to take it back
She had it written into her schedule
Like just another thing to do
But that box never got checked off
And I’m sittin’ here livin’ proof
If it went the other way nobody would have blamed her
Think of all the small town talk it would have saved her
She could have chosen one quick fix
To get her out of one big mess
She could have tied a different ribbon to the ending of the story
Coulda kept her secret, gotten out before it
Changed her life, she could've changed her mind
And changed everything
But she chose me
But she chose me, yeah
Me the daughter, me the sister
Me the dreamer with pigtails in pictures
Me the wife my husband loves
I’m just thankful because
If it went the other way nobody would have blamed her
Think of all the small town talk it would have saved her
She could have chosen one quick fix
To get her out of one big mess
She could have tied a different ribbon to the ending of the story
Coulda kept her secret, gotten out before it
Changed her life, she could've changed her mind
And changed everything
But she chose me
She chose me

Had my son in 98. One week after my 18th birthday. I was constantly told to take care of "it". So, I took it literally and had him and took care of him. He is now getting ready to serve our country. I thank the Lord God always that I didn't do what they wanted me to do.

I’m disabled. I’m autistic and I have a rare autoimmune disease. People on social media talk about “screening out” people like me, but we all deserve a chance. A disability doesn’t make you less deserving of life. I’m so thankful that my mother chose life for me and my sister. I’m thankful to have a Mom who held my hand when I was in the hospital, who didn’t tolerate strangers making ableist comments, who never gave up on me. I love you Mom💕

My baby girl became pregnant at 16 under horrible circumstances. And although I never believed in abortion..I went against my own soul and offered to take her. I thank her and God that she was so much wiser than I. She passed a few years later and her perfect little girl is what saved us. God I miss her. Thank you for this beautiful and courageous song. This is the strength women should aspire to.

So beautiful!! 😭😭😭 I was a believer in law school and knew I wasn’t living right having premarital sex. I sought advice from others and a guidance counselor told me it would be ok to be selfish and focus on my goals. I went to PP. They confirmed I was pregnant with urine test but couldn’t find anything on ultrasound. They said come back in two weeks for the abortion. I never went back. God worked on me. My daughter is gonna be 3 this month. I went back and graduated law school. She didn’t stop my dreams. She made them better. ❤️

I finally listened to the new album today, and this song really hit me. I was adopted and have never met my birth mother. All I know is that she was 15 when she had me, birth father was 20. My birth mom was 22 when she had me. She had already had two boys before she found out she was pregnant again but this time with me. Her boys were 2 and 3 and she knew there was no way she was going to financially be able to afford the three of us. She kept her pregnancy hidden from her family and friends and decided to put me up for adoption. I’m so thankful she chose life. Now I’m a happy young woman with a fiancé and 2 1/2 weeks away from meeting my first born son🥰

Do not consider yourself a coward. Just “alone” at that moment to make the choice. If you had been able to call on God, the Holy Spirit would have given you the strength. I pray you have an amazing relationship with God now because you can hand this over to HIM and not only be 100% forgiven but also be free from any negative thoughts that have stayed with you since the day you conceived that child. Our God is not a punishing God. He only wants us to have an intimate relationship with Him and all His promises will be yours. God wants you to be happy, joyous and free! He has a plan for you….just ask Him. ❤️🙏🏻

My mom was young and going through a messy divorce. She was given the option to start fresh and hand her baby over to someone else. She was told she could have another baby when she got remarried later. She was living in a rough neighborhood and barely making ends meet as a CNA in a nursing home. She held me and told that person she’d be raising her child on her own. It’s wasn’t easy and we struggled most of my childhood but I wouldn’t trade my mom for anyone! Next month, she gets to sit on the front row and watch her baby get married.

I'm from a small town. I got pregnant when I was 17. Most folks around here don't agree with abortion but there's also a lot of people that don't think to kindly of a young unmarried girl having a baby. I decided to keep my baby. The amount of judgment I got was so bad. For the longest time, I couldn't even go to Walmart without getting snarky comments and questions but I held my head high I was never ashamed of my baby. He's seven now and man he's such a blessing from God! It was so hard but I'd go through it all over again! ❤️

This song made me cry. A very similar situation happened to my grandmother when she was pregnant with my mom. The only thing that kept my grandmother from aborting my mother was her religious beliefs. My grandmother traveled from Florida to New Hampshire to deliver my mom and put her up for adoption. Fast Forward 50 years- my mother is married to a loving husband and has given birth to five healthy children- me and my four younger brother. My grandmother's choice to bring a life into this world has not only created me but the amazing family I have today.

This song is very powerful for me. I am on the spectrum and have Asperger's syndrome and ADHD. I remembered that I was a big troublemaker throughout my elementary school and was a handful for my parents. I was very socially awkward in elementary school, was kinda a loner, barely having had any friends. When I was very young, my dad did not really have much patience towards me; he has spanked me a number of times even in my kindergarten and elementary school years. My Dad even asked my mom why didnt we get an abortion if we have such a troublemaker. But I am glad that my mom stuck it out and showed patience, saying that she chose to have kids. Now, I believe me being on the spectrum actually brought me to success. I am currently a 3rd year student at UC Berkeley studying bioengineering and has relatively good grades, making Dean's list almost every semester and applying to medical school. So I am so glad my mom "chose me" when I was young.

I grew up strongly Christian...I was always told to wait until marriage and I thought I wanted that too. But one thing leads to another and I ended up pregnant at 19. I was so ashamed because now everyone would know what I did, and I was so guilty because it wasn’t fair I got pregnant when I didn’t want it and other women try and try but can’t conceive. I was scared because I have an autoimmune disease and I never planned on having kids for fear of giving it to them or for having a complicated pregnancy. I’m so thankful we chose life. My church and my family were so incredibly loving and supportive. At the time in my life I got pregnant I was going down a really dark road and I truly think God sent me a daughter to save me and lead me back to Him. I take heart it knowing that my biggest accomplishment may not be something I do, but someone I raise.

She knew the grief I faced for dating a single Dad in the small town that we lived in. I was still a kid myself and lost every friend I had because i chose her over my friends when they told me I had to choose them or a 3 year old. Never looked back.. 13 years later, best decision of my life. She thanked me for staying and choosing her 🥺. I told her I'll always choose her until my last breath as she is the light of my life... Abortion is a story is desperation and hopelessness… Every baby is a blessing, no matter what!! Placing a baby in the arms of another momma is brave and courageous! Making the choice to raise your baby in the face of fear is also incredibly courageous! Mommas need support not condemnation! My birth mom was only 18 when she got pregnant with me. She had to attend her senior year in high school pregnant and showing. Even though my life has not been perfect, many ups and downs, I am still grateful for being given life. The day I married Ken, June 26th, 1999, I know he was grateful that I am alive. And my father that raised me Jim, and his parents, so grateful, as well as some of my good friends. Thanks for posting this beautiful emotional song, I cried in a good way through it. I have tried to help, care, and make a good positive difference in other people's lives. Life is such a precious gift! Even though the world is not perfect, and nobody is perfect, I am glad I was given life, when it was legal to have a abortion, the year I was born in 1975. God bless the singer and writer of this song, what a blessing to hear such a message! God does not make mistakes, cause he is the only perfect one.

This is cute. I got pregnant on birth control. I was 20, and on a terrible road. Everyone told me to either get an abortion or that either way "they would get it." I chose the harder way and kept my baby. at 5 months I considered adoption. But instead I chose the good path and stayed sober from the first moment I saw her on that ultrasound screen. She changed my life.. she changed me. Here I am 7 years later with more clean time than I ever imagined I could have, no desire to use, and the most amazing daughter I could of asked for. I also have an 18 month old son now. I'm blessed. I chose her.

This is making me cry. I got pregnant at 16 and the choice was easy for me. I kept my baby but a few years later I was faced with that choice again with my second. I was in a MESS. I was on drugs and I really didn’t know if I was going to be able to get clean for the son I already had let alone my unborn baby. But I guess I am just so lucky I had strong personal values and beliefs because I realised I could never choose a drug over my precious child. So I got clean for both of them and I have been clean for coming up 4 years… and just gave birth to our third little boy and this time there was no choice to make, it was just a happy normal pregnancy and I’m so grateful that I have ALL my babies here with me… if I had to do it all again I’d always choose them every time…

I got pregnant at 18 with my new boyfriend when I was in college. It was terrifying showing up to college classes pregnant and not knowing what was going to happen but going the other way was never an option. My son was born on Thanksgiving day and I was back in class the following Monday to take my finals and finish the semester. I’m so grateful that his father chose us too and married me 9 months after our son was born. Our oldest son is almost 13 and we have 5 children now.

My mom had me at 45 years old. I was an “oops.” She had gone through 7 years of infertility to have my sister and then was told that it would never happen again. So when she found out she was pregnant with me 10 years later after having my sister. A lot of people told her to end my life that it was not worth it to have me at such an old age. She didn’t listen, that was never an option in her mind. I’m so happy ❤️ Much love to all of you!

I was 19 when I got pregnant and 20 when I had my daughter. I was in emotionally verbally and psychologically abusive relationship with my daughter’s father. I’m a single mom now. My daughter’s father hasn’t seen her in 3 years. I’m so glad i kept her. She’s the best thing that’s happened to me. If I didn’t end up having her I would probably still be in the abusive relationship and things probably would’ve gotten worse.

Please find a post-abortion support group to find healing and forgiveness. Your story is just as important as the ones who chose life. When I got pregnant with my Downs Syndrome child, I was 40. I was told by health professionals that I should have an abortion, bc I would become an elder, when he was in only in his 30s. I told them. Great Spirit got this, if the baby makes it thru the delivery, then he's supposed to be with me. He is now 35, I'm in my 70s, and he is my greatest teacher, my Sensei. I became an aromatherapist, sound therapist, reiki master, reflexologist, hebalist, soap maker, and natural food coach, to keep him alive, and medicine free. I could never have become the healer, and teacher that he and Spirit have transformed me into, on my own. Thank you so much for writing this song. It made me cry for 10 minutes with joy. May Holy Divine Spirit bless you and keep hands on you.🥰💞💖
