RAF's new Typhoon display pilot Turbo ready to push jet to the max

In a "pinch me" moment reveal, Forces News has been given exclusive access to meet the 2024 Typhoon Display Pilot.
Flight Lieutenant David Turnbull, known as 'Turbo', will be launching the display season with new manoeuvres as they gear up for another busy year of airshows.
He said: "It's such an honour and a privilege to fly the display this year.”

I am pleased that Russia has denounced the Treaty on fishing in the Barents Sea to the enemies. For 68 years, the British plundered this part of the sea, catching about 560 tons of fish a year. This is over, enemies cannot be allowed to hunt in our seas!!!

Last decent RAF Typhoon Display I saw was RIAT 2012, since back then at almost all UK airshows, all the fast jets are so far away you need a 500-600mm lens to even half fill the frame for photos. Seaside shows are even worse, the CAA are pushing aircraft so far out from the crowd, it makes the entire endevour a complete waste of time. This all goes back to the massive over reaction by the CAA to what happened at Shoreham. yes it was an horrific accident, but it was nothing to do with the display line. Andy Hill, the pilot got it all horribly wrong, also I believe that the road should not have been open during the airshow, and the organisers had not done their jobs.

The Eurofighter is possibly the best fighter aircraft on the planet. There are a lot of arguments for the F-22, but the subsonic maneuvering of the Eurofighter makes it an excellent short range fighter.

Delta wing planes are supposed cheaper and easier to build than retractable wings planes. Already looks outdated, up against its counterparts, I don’t think it will do well. But most importantly our pilots have no battle experience. Flying exhibitions isn’t fighting experience..

The retractable wing aircraft were better because their wings could retract? You what now? The Typhoon has evolved over many years into an exceptional multi role platform. With the AESA radar upgrades coming it'll be a match for anything else in the skies. In BVR matched with the Meteor, it's certainly not a platform to go up against. In a pure dogfight it's thrust to weight ratio and performance matches that of most fighters in the sky, even holding its own against the F22 at red flag. But I forgot, it's wings don't retract, silly me, that makes it bad. Ah well then.
