RAF Typhoon Display Over The Yachts at Eastbourne.

RAF Typhoon display pilot Flight Lieutenant Mark Long, did some great low passes over the yachts Eastbourne, its the primo place to experience the power of the eurofighter typhoon.

Love the way he used the undercart, and presumably everything else at his disposal for dynamic air braking after some of the turns/dives! That must be the equivalent of deliberately inducing a tail out slide in an F1 car by pulling the (non-existent) handbrake at 200 mph and then dropping off the handbrake right at the point of overcooking it. :)) Super COOL!

I think it's to help slow down the aircraft.

They put the wheels down at the slower points of the display to show off the undercarriage etc.

And always that drop tank! When will we learn to design airplanes with sufficient internal fuel tanks? F/A-18E/F got a substantial increase but it's still not enough, and as to not have wing stations constantly occupied by tanks, they now have to create conformal tanks. F-35 could have had enough, I suppose, but then the wings are so lousy it has to use so much burner that the tanks are too small anyway.

Because if you want high speed and maneuverability you have to play to aerodynamics and weight. Its better to have a detachable tank than to permanently hinder a planes ability when it may not need to travel a thousand miles to its target.
