Met Rafa personally in Abu Dhabi on golf course! He was the most humble, polite, pleasant person you could ever meet. True good, honest professional for me he will never be surpassed as a sportsman and human being. This word is overused but in his case it is truly deserved - legend. Honoured to have watched his career, enjoy a well deserved retirement Rafa. You will be sorely missed.

for me, Rafael Nadal - is the greatest tennis player of all time! With all his injuries setbacks - he managed to get 22 grand slams - what an achievement! but the greatest achievements of him is - having 14 grand slams in the hardest court to play - that's an unbeatable record! And the second achievement of him - that is so refreshing and extra ordinary - he is the most humble tennis player ever walked in any tennis courts! It was so easy for him to retire much earlier -with all his injuries but he soldiered on - up until now- 38 yrs old! It's so easy for him to be arrogant but he never did ! He never did! And that's what makes me love him so dearly ! He is my King forever ❤❤❤❤❤❤ What an excellent humble kind grateful human being ❤❤❤❤❤ thank you so much King Rafa ❤❤❤❤

I will always consider Rafa the greatest sports athlete I have ever seen. His attitude, grit, and determination are unmatched. Watching him play has been an incredible experience. His remarkable record on the court is admirable, but what truly sets him apart is his ability to compete fiercely for every game and point while remaining respectful and kind. This combination elevates him to another level in my eyes. I've cherished witnessing the golden age of tennis, especially with Rafa and Roger competing against each other. Rafa will forever be a champion, both on and off the court.

We all knew it had to end, yet we hoped that day would still be some time away. Injuries have taken their toll, but what he managed to achieve throughout his career is nothing short of incredible. The manner in which he dominated clay for 20 years (14 Roland Garros titles with a 112-4 score is madness, 81 consecutive wins on clay) will never be repeated in our lifetime, if ever, and even though most people will remember him as the "King of Clay", the fact he's got 8 Grand Slams at the other venues speaks volumes about a player that had it all, he could play on every surface and compete/win against Roger Federer (in my opinion the greatest grass court player of all time, not to mention probably the most gifted tennis player I've been lucky enough to see) and Novak Djokovic (the most successful player with 24 G.S. and a model of consistency and discipline). Nothing more left to say, other than muchas gracias, Rafa! LEGEND!

In terms of major records in men's tennis, I'd say Nadal's record of 14 titles at Roland Garros is the one least likely to be equalled or broken in any of our lifetimes. The 2008 Wimbledon final was maybe the second most iconic and famous Wimbledon final of the open era (after the 1980 one between Borg and McEnroe). People who rarely ever follow any tennis were talking excitedly about it.

Without so many injuries Rafa would have won at least 2 or 3 grand slams more. Also Rafa has had to play against the best Federer in the first half of his career, and against the best Djikovic in the second half, something important to take into account. A great tennis player.

Very good points. However, I believe Rafa would have won more than "2 or 3" Grand Slams given he missed out on 11 opportunities. Example one French he had to pull out due to wrist injury. Federer and Djokovic were blessed with "healthy" bodies so there achievements are what they are, but with Rafa the mind boggles as to what he would have further accomplished if his body didn't constantly let him down.
