Guys you have to realize, the 'dancing', bobbing, weaving, etc is simply part of the strategy. If they stand still they will be a sitting target for the opponent. As for why it looks sloppy, fights don't look like they do on TV and movies. Those are well choreographed and perfectly practiced hundreds of times. Real-time is much more reactive and thus the technique is not pretty. These guys can do some very pretty stuff on an open mat. The last thing, why is there so few actual exchanges of hitting? Where is all the aggressiveness? Why is it not like MMA? This is a sport, with specific rules. Think of it like Boxing, there are many types of hits you cannot do in boxing. There is 'dancing' around each other, bobbing, weaving, stalking each other around the mat to get the perfect setup. The exchanges are fewer, but pretty intense. MMA is not the same sport, it is more about the ground fighting and wrestling than the stand up striking, so it does appear more interesting. Also, this sport is high level elite stuff, like Olympic level, so they have many rules for safety. Believe me, these guys can kick some butt in real life if pressed, but they are not in competition to kill their opponent. They are gentlemen's (or gentlewomen's) matches.

Scott M Hello sir whats the reason for not using punches to the face and kicks to the legs also I see they never use elvows or knees when they should.

@@giantorres3352 its 6 years ago but I guess I'll reply, WKF has updated the rules now tapping (knocking down) your oponents is allowed face punches are allowed aswell as for knees. You can't use that in a tournament we don't murder or someone in the ICU do we.

You people piss me off if your an actual martial artist than have some damn respect. First of all to all you haters lol. What you are watching here is something called POINT FIGHTING, which by the way isn't the actual fighting aspect of karate I have done karate amongst other arts like you people are talking about I have studied Muay Thai, Krav maga, Judo, Jiujutsu, boxing, escrima and a couple others and let me tell you this. Actual karate not the sport aspect at all is indeed an actual fighting art and lethal. You don't just learn timing and precision and footwork, kicks and punches, you also learn sweeps which if performed correctly are lethal. Another thing is that you learn joint locks like in jiujitsu you also learn how to disarm people with guns knives and sticks. One more thing amongst thousands of others lol cuz I don't want to write an entire essay about how karate is an actual martial art but the last thing I want to share with you people is that karate teaches all these things because it like other martial arts was made through and by war every martial art was a product of war if learned correctly and applied correctly any of them are lethal.

''What you are watching here is something called POINT FIGHTING'' - No, what we are watching here is a degeneration of Karate. Meaning no offense, tho you will get offended, but, saying that you trained Karate, Krav Maga, Boxing bla bla bla just makes me more and more sure that you understand 0 about Karate. You are a smart ass thinking that making a big list of 5 years training some martial art makes you an expert, well guess again, it doesnt, for the opposite. Simple because you will never be a God in neither of them
@ryanrhoads9546
@ryanrhoads9546 7 жыл бұрын
Myamoto first of all Myamoto. I don't believe that point fighting is a degeneration of karate. you are incorrect that you think I would also get offended. (you don't even know me on a personal level.) And for saying that you mean no offense when you clearly do makes you look like a liar. For one don't call me out over the Internet like some keyboard warrior. Again you don't know me. One more thing, I never ever claimed to be an expert at any of those arts I'm more proficient in some than others. But here's the truth your correct in the notion that noone can be a "God" of martial arts, but the disrespect that is potruding from your side of this conversation means you probably don't care about this dialogue in the first place.

I'm a fan of martial arts and this match is the very reason why I prefer MMA because watching just one discipline alone is so boring because it's so restrictive, you see guys out there in training doing amazing things with their kicks but very few can actually do it in a match. I know these guys can kick my ass but at the end of the day, the reason why tae kwon do or karate doesn't get the same attention as other disciplines is because it's so restrictive. Even Bruce Lee is not a fan of matches like these where movement is so restricted.

This is sport karate and is more like a game of it than a real fight. I used to be pretty good as I was fast and had good timing with a reverse punch and front jab. I have used karate for real and it works--there was no bouncing up and down involved and it was over in less than 10 seconds with a take down and choke hold. Sports karate has got very boring to watch as the competitors all fight the same and the rules have developed to exacerbate it. The only sport more boring to watch than this is taekwondo-- I am still recovering from watching it in the Olympics.

wika1984 “there's rules and regulations like throwing is illegal in karate tournaments that keep karate at its purest form.” Well, it is completely the opposite. Karate was a complete fighting style has throws (probably the only thing it lacks is ground grappling). Also they use body protection, and you can see a lot of other arts that doesn’t, and no one died. In fact, It is the WKF that keeps destroying it, I don’t know about other countries but at least in Japan and China you can find good Karate, they don sent their students to this kind of tournament. Karate has so many punching and kicking variations that seeing this is painful. They should change the name to “tsuki-do” or something. And NO, I am not a follower of MMA. I love traditional arts but this is not progression at all.
