Very difficult to find a short list of words to describe Rafa, what he has meant to so many millions like me who have been overblown since he went onto a tennis court. The list of words could be never ending, so despite that retirement that surely none of us wanted to see, the only thing to say is “Long live the King and Long live Rafa”.

He been good, but there’s plenty of questions about who’s the best Spanish athlete. Plenty of absolute legends to choose from. Iniesta, Xavi, Casillas. Far more people play football than tennis, and these guys rose to the absolute top.

Those players, though extremely good, do not have his level of success. You have to go to Miguel Induráin, Top 3 greatest cyclists of all time, people like him, GOAT level sportsmen. Carlos Sáinz, Fernando Alonso, etc. We can put Xavi, there, but that's about it.

Nadal is a great athlete, no doubt, but almost no one plays his sport on comparison. So, to rise to absolute top of there sport, footballers have far, far more competition. It’s just no comparison.

I have to say I grew up never liking Rafa, I just didn't like his playstyle and was always for his opponents. Yet something you cannot take from him is that he is one of the players with the greatest human values. I mean the guy never broke a single racket just to name one thing. As I was always rooting for Federer or Djokovic, I'm so glad Nadal was here to bring great competition. This video was very emotional, I loved it Bye ! The greatest men's Grand Slam tennis player of all time. Rafa won 22 GS singles titles out of 68 entered (.324 GS singles titles W%). Novak 24/76 (.316 GS singles titles W%. Roger 20/81 (.247 GS singles titles W%). And Rafa has that best W% despite the fact that 3/4 of the GS are on courts that favored Novak and Roger. Rafa is also the greatest Davis Cup player of all time. And the greatest clay court player of all time. He was also the best role model... and the greatest fighter the game has ever seen.
