The Little Girl would be later taken to the hospital and make it out okay thankfully, this is why MLB Ballparks need to extend the Foul Ball netting, this is happening too often #mlb #albert almora

2016, game 7 of the world series, Almora pinch ran in the top of the 10th inning with utmost professionalism, being sure to tag up at first immediately when Kris Bryant hit a ball to deep center field. He managed to get to 2nd off that hit because of his insight and wherewithal, and was instrumental in helping the Cubs secure their championship when he scored 1 of the 2 runs they needed to hold off the Indians that night. It's good to see that one part of the game he's better at than intelligent baserunning is genuinely caring for others - fans, players, everyone. Amazing dude. Really hope the girl was and is ok.

I remember watching this on tv when it was live and my heart dropped when the announcer said it hit a kid. We’ve always been proud of Almora for his baseball play (despite the every now and then lackluster plate appearances). That’s a terrible coincidence for the child and the family to have to go through at a baseball game, and I certainly hope anyone injured in this was okay. But this is exactly why I love baseball. Such a display of sportsmanship to delay a game while, 1. the fan was made sure to be okay and 2. while the batter was obviously shaken after knowing he was the one that hit the ball. The players show so much regard to the fans and I love it.

When I was a kid, I saw a lady get hit in the face by a laser foul ball and she never saw it coming as she was talking to her friend. It hit her square in the nose and her face exploded with blood everywhere. This was 40+ years ago and I still get goosebumps thinking about it. Security came flying in from everywhere and they had her on a stretcher with medical personnel in less than 5 minutes. As a kid, I was in shock. I never take my eye off the baseball when at a game after that, never.

Well since a lawyer is involved of course it’s a “permanent” problem. Weather or not that is accurate and not just a way to bump up the payout is a different story. I’m not saying people are awful for suing of course medical bills are expensive but now a days everything is a cash grab and people will inflate injury’s to get more money. It may be surprising but brains do heal especially if she was as young as they said. My brother had a stroke as a infant and they said he would never walk and would be dead by 3 years. He is 46 years old and only after he was forced to get the Covid shots (disabled people were not given a choice) he is only now wheelchair bound. I personally had some bad head injuries due to abusive relationships and sports and they said I would have permanent problems but as of 7 years after my last head injury my symptoms have cleared up completely and my brain actually healed and I’m older than dirt. So you never know what is actually permanent or not.

To those talking about paying attention, the ball is traveling around 150 feet a second so it got into the stands in about a 1.5 seconds. A ball hit straight at you at that level is going to be hard to pick up with the eye, especially for a non-athlete. While there are people who could react to that there are many more who wouldn't be able to even if they were paying full attention. It took the death of a child to get full netting behind the goal in the NHL, and it took too many injuries in the stands to finally get MLB to fully extend their netting.

I remember like it was yesterday going to my First MLB game in Kansas City back in 83. I could not believe just HOW HUGE the stadiums are, and how fast everything went. I remember a line drive during batting practice hitting about 20 seats from me then bouncing at least 100 feet up off the empty (Thank God) chair and landing over a 100 feet away! Also, Vida Blue, one of my all time favorites give me his autograph during warm ups🙂! Sadly he got cut for using coke about Two weeks later. Say anything you want, he was the only one I saw all day who signed anything for anybody. Side note, if you are afraid of heights, like me, NEVER get an upper deck ticket! In 85 for my graduation our class went to St. Louis to see a game. Our sets were TEN rows from the top of the stadium, right behind home plate. Birds were flying below me! The only good part was you got a great view of everything, including the city skyline, and everything hit looked like it was going to leave the earth. One time, somebody hit one that a swear I thought would end up a mile away. It was a pop out to the shortstop.

“The 2-1/2-year-old girl who suffered a fractured skull after being hit by a foul ball during a Houston Astros game at Minute Maid Park in May remains at risk for seizures and has a permanent brain injury, her lawyer said. The attorney for the family of the girl told the Houston Chronicle that the girl is continuing to take anti-seizure medication. "She (the child) has an injury to a part of the brain, and it is permanent," Richard Mithoff told the paper.
