Rafale Deal | The Complete Controversy Explained by Dhruv Rathee

This video will make you understand the whole Rafale Deal controversy from top to bottom. I explain the timeline of the events from when the original deal was in negotiation to the new rafale deal's supreme court judgement with it's typo errors. Basically, there are two accusations regarding the deal. First is that the deal is favouritism to Anil Ambani's Reliance and the second is that there has been corruption in the pricing of the planes. The cost per plane has increased from 526 crores to 1638 crores. I do not give any opinion from my side in this video and leave it up to you guys to judge for yourself.

Can you please confirm... 1. why UPA was not able to buy even 18 fly away condition of jet from dassault in its 6-7 years of negotiation . 2. If deal of UPA was so attractive then why UPA govt decided it to re-examine the deal as we have already lapse 5 year in discussing the original. 3. So what is solution only supreme court has that capability to solve it. govt. The UPA deal was was about 18 aircrafts and technology transfer. Weapons purchase were to be done separately. Air Force buys weapons (like missiles and bombs etc) all the time as they are consumables. Such agreements happen separately. For reference you can also look into the SU-30 MKI deal. It was done in a similar fashion.

DRAL is offset partner, as of now, or even next 3 years, they are not expected to make any parts for Rafale, DRAL will be making parts for FALCON business jets which is also part of Dassault product portfolio. Point 2 is correct.. Point 3 you missed to put "thousand" its 30,000 crores. The ToT and Offset are into many things, including help on our own Kaveri Engine (which was supposed to power our own Tejas) but the engine was having higher weight than expected. So Safran (which makes the planes engines for Rafale plane will be giving consultancy for Kaveri engine and certifying the engine. This can be used (maybe) for the export versions of Tejas as then we can have control over sales of Tejas and not be Vetoed.

The facts which were put forward are correct but incomplete. Like When you say Mr. Jaitley asked for JPC while 2G scam, then you should also mention that supreme court cancelled 122 license at that time and scam was identified by CBI, not a bunch of Politicians. When you compare price of aircrafts, you should also be telling about escalation cost, which had been accumulated in so many years. When there is a talk that HAL was to produce 118 Aircrafts, then why deal wasn't sign at that time. Moreover why UPA didn't sign deal during 7 years when initial step was taken in 2007. Overall, some facts were there but it felt like somehow you are trying to convince that there is a scam.

Oh yeah, he was really impartial in his assessment. He skipped a hell of a lot of info like the IAF's involvement in the negotiations, the hangers they are building in India, 75% availability of aircrafts for 5 years(please keep in mind that non of our aircrafts have availability near to that), 40 India specific enhancements ( baffled how u missed that), no one and I mean no one transfers fighter jets technology to another country the best we would have got is license production of the Jets and we couldn't have done that without France. When Dassault said reliance will only get 10% of offset deal, it wasn't 10% of 30000 crores, Dassault's offset obligations are for rupees 8700 crore 10%of which is 870 crores, the rest of the obligations are distributed among 3 other companies (mbda, safran, and thales). 60% of the offset amount is to be spent on r&d, ie, that entire money will go to government institutions like drdo and bel(one billion dollars are spent just to develope kaveri engine by safran) All this information is available on public domain, he purposefully left it out.

Why are you bringing facts which are anti government . Rafael Deal was started in 2001. Then from 2004 to 2014 Congress was not available to complete the deal. The 108 Rafael made by HAL gurantee was not taken by Dassault so it was unsafe for IAF. And for facts Anil Ambani is not manufacturing the jet. And HAL would take 2.7 times man hours more than Dassault which would make it even costlier. The offset clause lays that Dassault will only spend 3% in Reliance Group which is approximately 800 crore. The Congress goverment contract for 18 jets was for 11 years and that for BJP government is of 5 years . Supreme Court check the pricing and said we are satisfied with process so we are not interfering. Don't be biased...

just a slight correction, its not 2.7 man hours more, but 2.7 times more. Thus as per what you said, if its 100 man hours then it would be 102.7 man hours, but its actually 207 man hours thus its 2.7 times MORE MAN HOURS.. do check Also it roughly takes 3 years for a plane to build, and the planes are built in LINE, Thus if the air frame of the plane is made now, then its certified for flight and operations in 3 years. So the plane is built, and various avionics are tested to ensure that the plane performs as per expectations and then its certified for operational use..

1st thing when you buy a new aircraft 1st time you have to setup infrastructure you have to buy its weapon package you have to train piolots ground staff and iaf upgrade rafale by our needs so its cost increased. And when you buy 2nd batch of aircraft you need to buy its weapon package and some important things but in the 2nd batch of aircraft you dont have to depend on training and infrastructure that's why the second batch of any aircraft you buys it will be cheap in price so I think you understand
