As someone that only play raft when chapter 3 released, i have a feeling the current story missing something and no wonder there used to be more detail notes back then

They made it so the notes are less detailed but less confusing and more streamlined, so you can get a better understanding of the story as a whole.

Interesting, though glossed overview for the discussion. The reason is something (I fell) hidden in plain sight & hinted at in subtext, and it starts with the player's journal. The emblem in is of being an "Advanced Scout" this symbol is found in locations we're exploring. With "Rule 6" & simple logic of, we're not the only Advanced Scout out there. The next bit is a grim one at Caravan Town & links with "Rule 2." For in the location where the plan to siege Tangaroa happened, the pathway into has a number of (salvage?) hooks hanging on the walls with a placard (memorial?) for each. The last is not found as a story isle, but as a random - the abandoned rafts we come across. As pointed out about Caravan Town turning people away, some may have been from though others may've been from the failed siege of Tangaroa. By international law, shooting non-combatants/refugees (especially at sea) is a Crime & "Shooting to Wound" without intent to allow aid to an active combatant is a War Crime. Captain James Tully may've been looking out for Tangaroa, but as he had other options - he did not become a monster for others to pin a blame on, he just let the one he had within out & tried to justify it. Projects to terraform the world is linked between multiple locations, as there would be multiple fronts to address, though I believe some of the inaccurate science can be partly explained by. The transforming Africa project was one of; though instead of making the brushlands more viable for farming, it turned them into scorched-earth deserts. Exact cause is unknown. Reactor research project at the North Pole had issues (as they did at the Radio Tower & possibly with Tangaroa's engines), so the northern icesheets may have been irradiated & melted down because of. What unknown factors would be introduced with the 'freshening' of the thermohaline circulation system, let alone the (unknown types & quantity) of radioactive isotopes released into the water would react with the wildlife (as isotopes from the Fukushima reactor have now been found in all oceans)? As Jeff Foxworthy once joked "And Godzilla use to be a little bitty lizard," which could be the cause of the 'mutated' animals (growth &/or biology abnormalities) &/or unusual behaviors (a stretch on the subject, but not impossible). Too many unknowns here... The building as a possible "alternate plan" if the things don't go as planned with terraforming the world to be "a better place"? The rumors of elites building shelters in Antartica (in game) may lead to the Chapter 3 polar biomes & has been in one form or another apart of some "Plan B" for many over time (much like the World Seed Vault & Biosphere 2). Might not be looking like Tangaroa, but the proposed Freedom Ship project (IRL) might be close to it. As for the Malaysian Raft communities reported in game, the Halong Bay village in Vietnam is that way IRL but not out on the open ocean currents.

Those are some great insights. I have a lot of opinions on the reformation project (I'm a restoration ecologist in real life) so I'm planning to cover that separately

@@Alidove_ You're welcome. I tend to be an information font of things I have come across, and attempt to verify as much as possible before posting. Also helps that I like to read & work at a small book factory that prints a wide variety of subject matter, including some academic studies & almanacs. I will await your views on the reformation project... My opinion of what has been presented so far in-game (RAFT) is of "Good" intentions gone horribly wrong...

So it’s kind of obvious but I really do want to know was this the last update that the devs are going to give us? (The final chapter) I mean it is kinda in the name that there won’t be anymore chapters but will there at least be any new updates?
@samkohlo9158 Жыл бұрын
They said that the final chapter doesn’t mean the final update, but I think they just meant adding a new item every now and then and bug fixes, so nothing major.

the scary part is that if climate chenge in our world gets worser, this might actually happen.....
@juliengrossmann2 жыл бұрын
It is no longer a question of if but when. To a large extent we have already started the downhill path. Just look at the way the West threat migrants.... Very similar to the Tangaroa's Captain. Worse still, even though climate change effects are plain to see for everybody, we still haven't even started to address the real problem: human overpopulation. Every environmental crisis we face (from climate change to the destruction of entire ecosystem and the sixth mass extinction) can all be traced back to human overpopulation. But since this topic is the ultimate taboo for religious and humanists believers, we carry on breeding till Nature can't take it anymore... At which point, parents will have to make the same choice than Bruno and decide which kid to sacrify.
