Raw rice is pachai arisi. Pulugal arisi is boiled rice. What is that you have mentioned please clarify.

Ponni Pachai Arisi : This is used for variety rice like Lemon Rice , Tamarind Rice ..etc 2.Pulungal Pachai Arisi (Palagaram Pachai Arisi) : This is used for preparing Appam,kuli Paniyaram ..etc. When you buy in a shop ask them for Palagaram Pachai Arisi...

You can skip the coconut milk . Adding coconut milk gives you a good flavor and aroma to the appam. If you add coconut while grinding the batter , the taste will change when you ferment the batter.
