Luther Portnoi My late Mom loved this movie. We watched it on cable. She said the guy DeNiro played reminded her of my Dad. Just the "be friends" part. I had no idea who DeNiro was at the time.

I've always found it odd that the actress who played Jake's first wife has no other acting credits to her name. I've Googled her around the web a bit and not a single film outside of Raging Bull and very little seems to be public about her life at all. Phenomenal role in this picture

My best friend was a professional boxer in the early to late 80s. I got to know a lot of fighters during that time. I saw so much of that kind of behavior out of them. Most of them were always pissed off about something or argumentative. Lots of drug use, lots of woman trouble. It was an interesting decade.

The actress who played his wife in this scene is terrific. They could have had a running sitcom; an Italian version of The Honeymooners. Don't think she ever made another film, and that's a shame because she was very good. Lori Anne Flax.

this brings me back to red hook brooklyn n.y. in the 70s(obviously it was vernacular there way way way earlier) and how all the italians talked to each other. there was a kinda macho-swagger in the way the men carried themselves too. "you hear what i said"?, "you hear what i said"?.
