"Your old lady can't feel the love on any night" is a reference to the song from animated movie The Lion King (Can you feel the love tonight). Another Disney reference!

Also a reference to Richard's possible homosexuality.

Richard also spent most of his life away mainly for the crusades and other places, he barely home at all.

@@peterbayne7227 Never made much sense to me. I understand that he didn't have a legitimate heir but wasn't that more due to the fact his wife was at first insanely young compared to him? Thus he had no interest in her, but he seemed to be ok with being with other women, given the fact he had an illegitimate child. I dunno, I understand that there are quite a few historical figures like Frederick the Great that were homosexual but that doesn't seem to be the case with Richard the Lionheart to me.

"I'll kill you when I spit like a pit full of snakes" is a reference to Ragnar bein killed by being thrown in to a pit of snakes by a king.

"coming through in the end like Sean Connery" isn't just a reference to Connery playing Richard I in Robin Hood Prince of Thieves, it's also a meta-reference to the third-act twist in the ERB of Austin Powers vs James Bond.

One more meaning is the fact that Richard was in fact French, as Connery was a Scot, not English and the majority of Bond fans consider Sean Connery the best James Bond, who is an English Secret Agent. So, Richard not being English, is irrelevant of him being a good English King, as Sean Connery was a good James Bond.

Lodbrok translates to shaggy pants, he was wearing rabbit fur trousers while he waded through a lake in near freezing temperatures. Pit full of snakes, Ragnar was executed by being thrown into a pit of vipers. Salad in a fight. Saladin, Richards nemesis Monks in chunks, viking raid on the monastery at lindisfarne Heired(erred) on the side, illegitimate child. Spine twisted like the end of the plantagenet line, ref to Richard the 3rd scoliosis/hunched end of lionhearts breed. The Royal "we" as in "we are not amused" etc. Sean connery ref is throwback to Robin Hood prince of thieves where he turns up at the end to give maid Marian away at the wedding.

I liked almost everyone who reacted said "sorry for pausing a lot" and that's a good thing that you noticed that b'coz if you didn't pause an ERB battle video at a bar, you didn't get it. Also, great reaction......

This was quite a good ERB! I enjoyed the reference to the snakepit which is how the legends say Ragnar Lodbrok (Ragnar "of the furry pants") supposdly died, thrown into a pit of poisonous vipers by king Edla of Northhumbria.

"You couldn't even beat a Salad in a fight" We'll give credit to King Richard the Lionheart where it's due. In his crusade, he won _multiple_ battles which he lead himself against King Saladin's army which King Saladin never participated in. King Richard's sheer prowess he displayed by cutting down his armored opponent until down below neck from the head instilled fear in Muslims troops. Enough to send them fleeing, even. It's the case of "we may have lost the battle, but we won the war." for King Saladin's army. As a Muslim myself, I am impressed at the chivalry and prowess displayed by King Richard and it's a shame that such a man had to suffer and die the way he did. And is it just me or are the French really great at warring ? Richard the Lionheart, Joan of Arc, Napoleon ?

Richard's Snake refferences is because Ragnar literally died on a Pit of snakes, And when Richard said "Your legend next to you disappoints" is because most of Ragnar's history are legends and the actual historical facts are not a lot. Still Ragnar won with "Richard First Base" and "Your mother drained England to pay foir your bail" bars.

Remember that Richard was one of England's worst kings, but he has good press thanks to the troubadours. Thanks to them he is the ideal king of Christendom: brave , chivalrous and just. Guess in the name of whom Robin Hood fights against Prince John?
