Making A Shoe Cabinet & Coat Storage - Birch Plywood

In this video I make a shoe storage cabinet and a hat and coat rack for our newly renovated entrance hall using some birch plywood with a nod to mid century modern style. Plywood furniture is not always popular with everyone, but I really like seeing the end grain particularly on birch plywood once it's sanded smooth and has a nice finish applied.

I knew straight away what you'd have done wrong the moment you asked us to guess. Which is particularly galling, because I take 3x longer than necessary, as I have to rectify all these kind of mistakes. Maybe we should spend a moment asking ourselves that same question before each project 🤣 xxx

Congratulations on the plaque for 100k. Fair play to youtube for sending these out to give the people that feeling of accomplishment. Bet in the early days the thought process was like "well im.just gonna grab some scrap timber that hadn't rotted yet and show some people how to make something half decent out of it" Next thing ya know 100 thousand people on the planet are saying to you let me know what you do next! Love your approach to the channel and your calmness you present throughout the channel. Could be the Norfolkness! Got family from my Dad's side who all live there and everyone is always calm! Great video. Was saying in another comment how much I like birch ply, it's criminally underused in the UK! All the best, thumbs up.

Another fabulous build. I saw your mitre recovery trick on William Ng channel. Great life saver for a critical project. I noticed streaks in your varnish, I use Gold Taklon artist brushes, 2-3 inches wide but only 1/4" thick and very flat (you can get angled brush too) and gives a very smooth finish with very little DeNibbing required between coats!

great video Kieth. Thanks for sharing your mistakes with everyone. Nothing goes perfectly and channels that portray everything being so easy are boring because they're fake. Would you consider releasing the renovation videos to your main, non-patreon, audience after a certain amount of time has passed, like a month or something? So the Patreon supporters would get early access, but the main audience would eventually get to see them

Thanks. I don't think the renovation videos would perform well in this channel as they're not related to woodworking and that is likely to drag the performance of the channel down, so they won't be appearing i'm afraid - also it's important that I reward those who are helping me out
