Woodwork video. In this video I find an old chest of drawers made from sapele/sapele veneered particleboard and spend an afternoon transforming it from being someone else's junk in to a nice piece of furniture for my bedroom.

Greasy stains can be removed by putting chalk powder on top, cover that with a sheet of brown wrapping paper. Heat it with an iron. The grease will melt and the chalk and paper will absorbe it. The last bits of greasy stuff can be removed with mineral spirits and a rag.

I agree he did a good job. When I find old stuff like this, I just smash it up and burn it. But it shows what can be done if you are clever. I'm on the spectrum though and I enjoy busting the crap out of shit.

I don't even know where to begin. You turned complete cr@p into a beautiful, functional piece of furniture. You showed the entire process. I learned so much about quality details, veneer, removing stains, patching...I don't know how this came recommended to me, but I'm incredibly glad I saw it. I have some furniture that I'm now going to take a second look at! Thank you for posting!

SO many [mostly women] use the chalk paint on the old furniture. but i bet it's because they don't really know how to restore wood. or they want to do it fast. :/ it's nice to see some folks restore furniture to look like new, like back when it was made.

@@sapphirecamui6447 I have a old drop leaf desk that my parents bought in the later 1940's, its ok piece of furniture, it got beat up while my older brothers had it in the bedroom, but Mom had the inside redone , but not the outside. I was thinking of chalk paint and doing it in black, since it sits in a white hall way

Chem Cody You can lift small gouged damage on all sorts of wood by using a dab of water and heat from the tip of a hot iron. More success if you've stripped off paint or finish first, but as was shown, it can be done with a finish that needs to have stains out.

Gorgeous! I hear about people finding furniture near the garbage but have not personally witnessed it, thank you for showing your find to the finished end. Also I didn't realize how an iron could remove/minimize water staining. I learned a lot from your video including how someone's trash can be so easily (for you) restored to an almost new treasure. When I have such a "find" I will review your channel Rag 'n' Bone Brown to restore my piece and of course let you know, since I will be very proud to have performed a trash to treasure feat of my own. Thanks so much for your video today, really enjoyed it : D

Hi Keith,I have watched this vidio a good few time's now but I am not sure if I have made a comment, well like me in my younger day's you are a salvage of people's throw aways, and you have a good eye for see ingredients the usefulness of discarded stuff, what you did was a first rate job of giving the chest of drawers a new lease of life, not trying to return it to a like new condition, which was not necessary, and the finished article looks just right, and nd it will give you lot's of storage for hardly any cost, just a little bit of your time, definatley gets my thumbs up,always looking forward to your next project, take care and stay healthy and happy
