Also too when he was with the Falcons here the list of positions that he has held Who was the assistant head coach to Dan Quinn He then was also the Falcons receivers coach He then went over to the defensive side and was the cornerback coach He then started calling the defensive plays as the defensive coordinator. And when Dan Quinn was fired became the interim head coach. Those pieces have changed he still knows the organization top to bottom. And has been on both sides of the ball in this organization. That is why he is the perfect fit for Atlanta. Especially winning the super bowl within the last 2 years with the Rams In the league that is about what have you done lately, and lately that is a way stronger recent resume than Bill Belichick on most of the other candidates that applied for the position in terms of fit for the Falcons.

I'm happy about getting a black Head coach, I'm just not sure about not hiring Bill. A lot of fans are not going to be happy with a black Head coach. I'm not sure if it will work out but I feel like Raheem will be a lot better and will be there for a long time to come

I like Raheem. He seems like a guy I could grab a beer with.. but I just want to push back on the identity politics and to highlight where we’re at vs our past.. it will nearly be impossible for you to find anywhere on the internet where someone says “I’m pissed they hired a black coach” you just won’t find them. Because as a society we’ve successfully deemed racial oppression as unacceptable, and we should celebrate that fact. I disagree that a lot of fans are mad that he’s black. If he were purple and had a 21-38 record, you’d see the same people complaining.

Instead of hiring the GOAT head coach, they do a DEI checkbox hire. Falcons have never hired a coach with HC experience. Yes, Morris was HC for a little while, but had no success. They always go the cheap way out as long as they get the optics and narrative right. That is all Blank cares about. Since they went with a younger HC, expect them to take another shot at the draft for a QB. Pfffft. Based on their history, good luck with that.

Blank didn't want Belichick because Belichick wanted full control. He wanted McKay and Fontenot out and Fontenot has done a great job and McKay and Blank are besties. His success depends on the HC and DC he brings in.

I agree with you on most of this. But us getting the luxury picks out the way first actually building a team first before getting the QB was actually the right move. If we did get the QB first we would have been in a bad position like the panthers are but no we are literally a QB away from being a playoff team. We aren’t in a bad position at all at this point

Wouldn't've been my choice, but he was only like 33 years old at the time he took over in TB after Gruden got fired. Led them to the playoffs his 2nd year with Josh Freeman at QB. When he got fired, I remember the consensus at the time being that he would eventually be a HC again, but he was just not ready. We'll see if he's ready now.
